Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
What I can say is, it's not dead here, a lot of folks are still working on it, mostly with Sprint because this is the only phone for SERO now.
But if you notice, for the world outside here, not a lot people are doing works on WM6.x anymore. For any company looking forward to launch any software for mobile device, they need to first decide which platform to go with. And first they will start with Apple, then most likely include a version for Android. They won't bother with WM at all from about a year ago. So basically the apps for WM are at least 1 year old. Is this fair to say? For Android, google did a lot cool stuffs dedicate for it because it's its only child, they include Apple in some cases just because iPhone is very popular, there's no reason to fight against money. Also blackberry is also dying, sad to say that, but it's really true. One reason is that blackberry updates their OS and break the compatibility a lot so to my understanding, an app can work on some versions or devices but not others. These are based on the app developers point of view. If I want to make profit on an app, I won't pick WM as the platform. On this point, WM is dead. Sad to see that because I'm locked on WM because of SERO but truth is truth, I can't pretend deaf just because I like my TP2:p |

I am aware of most of the rom's on this page and have tried most of them dating back to april to now. Including the stock 6.1 rom (which was fast for a few days) Vin's roms run the best on my device and i've learned not to over due it with custom cabs. I use 3 customization cabs now. not including apps. Yes, i agree that it is a hardware issue, I called sprint yesterday with limited luck, called HTC with no real luck, went to a sprint store, then to a corporate sprint store, Everyone agreeded my phone was not functioning properly. So today I called sprint again and explained to them in clearer ways and got them to ship a replacement =) So... I do hope it was hardware issues, however that doesn't change that the specs of the TP2 are kind of lacking..... :silent: |

and never deal with HTC directly. you'll get charged up the yin yang just for taking up their time. deal with sprint for your replacement since your device is still under warranty. and to stay on topic....i gotta agree with what bored said about whatever works best for the enduser is what i believe. i mean im very happy with my tp2. ever since i got a tp2 when it came out....i never had any issues with it except those two times i mentioned above. so for me personally, why rock the boat when it's im smoothly sailing with what i have? im interested in the Evo or Epic, but since my tp2 just works for me in terms of the daily things i need it to do, i don't see myself upgrading any time soon because the Epic/Evo is the must have phone as of this moment. |

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
MSFT need to come quick with WM7. Please hurry.
And Sprint cheated us out HD2 that didnt came! If it were not for SERO and all the 3 GPS program working on my TP2 and all the warez I got, I might have gone to other device, BUT not iphone. |
Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
If it was dead why is the Forum so Active, I would not say dead just no more updated from HTC or the Cell providers. the Community is keeping it Alive and well.

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
It's not just the only phone for SERO, but also for the Fair & Flexable plan (ME). I had the diamond for a little over a year and just got the TP2 this week. I like the TP2, I modded it with Cookie and made the tether mod. I think it's stable and I like it. I see no reason to go to Andriod and pay more than twice what I'm paying. I'm waiting on WM7 to see what sprint offers to see what to do. I thought about going with the HD2 and pay $50 a month, but the $450 upfront cost stopped me. So, I see myself using this TP2 for at least 1 year and I too thought about getting another one as a back up.
TP2 ftw |
