Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
I sorta got the same feeling, I only got it a couple of months ago, then when I got on these forums I was like "oh man, I thought this was a cutting edge phone. It's old. And it has all these problems..."
Now that I finally have the problems settled, I'm finding it's a really versatile phone, I can do everything I want on it. It's got quirks but you can't say the phone doesn't have apps or can't do anything the other smartphones can. (except be stable lol..) I'm waiting to see what Windows Phone 7 is like before going to android. I can already see it won't be like 6.5. But if it's not noticeably BETTER than 6.5 (for usability and speed and stability) then I will jump to android. The times I've used a droidX it was just so nice to work with and fast and just feels like a cleaner, less buggy, smoother OS. Win 6.5, especially with sense, feels like a hodgepodge of old OS stuff mixed with newer OS stuff mixed with fan-made mods and apps that sometimes look and behave like they were written by amateurs. All of which is mixed with another OS running on top draining all of my resources just to make it more pretty and usable. Android just feels like one integrated OS, all of which was done professionally and all of which looks pretty and works. Don't write me off as a fandroid, I don't even own one, I just got to play with one for a while. I like my TP2 and show off the custom themes and I'm pleased that it does everything I want. But I'm not gonna deny reality and pretend like it's been a smooth ride. |
Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
Well, if Sprint insists to add $20/month for me to use EVO, I won't bite. I know there're a lot better devices out there, but money is more important for me
worse than that is the fact that I just signed 2 years to get TP2. Go away... there's nothing better than TP2 for the next 2 years. |

I don't think it's dead. If you want to be a sheep and do "what all the cool kids are doing" then go get your Android or iphoney. Microsoft, along with WP7, is also going to release a new OS based on 6.5 that will be targeted to business users which may mean chefs can possibly port it to our TP2s. You never know what might happen. |
Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
Why does everyone feel the need to compare old phones with new ones? Anyway just bought a Samsung Moment because I am not ready to double my bill with Sprint just for Android. Hopefully Sprint will release a decent 3G Android phone soon...

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
there will be people modding/tweaking winmo devices for a while i think. as far as official support from microsoft and larger developers dont expect it on winmo. with the momentum that android and ios have as well as m$ now focusing on wp7 there probably wont be much more in terms of dev outside of here and xda but i wouldnt call it dead just yet.

really? where's a source to verify this? and stop comparing the TP2 to the EVO or droid X,its very corny, cheap, senseless and immature. of course they're gonna be running smoother than the TP2 they have 1.5-2x the specs. its hardware not the OS. |

I like my TP2 that I just got a month ago, but i wish i did my homework. This phone has been just a thorn in my side because it is so unstable. Every rom on here is good for a few days. Vin's are my go to rom when i'm not looking for another one to be even more stable, but even that rom can't be great if the phone is a pos. It's a shame they didn't make it with better specs, jeeze, its not even a year old yet. It should have been cutting edge when it was released lol..... Anyway.. Could you report back on your Moment and it's stability. I was playing with one today at the Sprint store, and It seemed nice, Or was it the Intercept i liked.. Whichever one has the nicer keyboard ;) I'm gonna consider listing this TP2 on ebay, maybe someone else will want it. I'm not happy with it. In a perfect world. It would work out of the box the way it should, but.... it isn't, and it doesnt. #-o |

Re: So.... TP2 a dead platform?
I love my overclocked NRG infused TP2.
The TP2 is still a great phone and it does android - sorta. The only thing that is going to kill the TP and any other WM phone is the lack of app development for the WM platform. You go to most sites now (except this one) that allow you to download an "app" and WM is usually missing. Thats whats going to kill the TP2. David |
