GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

2 Attachment(s)
This is a guide based off my experiences on how to get everything working properly on boost mobile. This is not my work nor do i take credit for it i was helped by many. im just putting it together in one place for every one that needs it. Oh and i seen all over craigslist and ebay that they sell guides on how to do this everyone that learns from here please do not try to sell this instead help out who ever needs it just like you needed it.

1) You need to have a boost CDMA account active
* CDMA, yes boost has CDMA just like sprint. ** CDMA not IDEN in other words no walkie talkie.
1.5) if you have a walkie talkie account just call boost Customer service (C.S.) and tell the rep you want to transfer your account to the cdma side
2) Call boost mobile C.S. and tell them you want to swap phones on your account for whatever reason you can make up i.e. phone broke or fell on water. Just tell them its a red phone or something and it works
3) Do not tell them that your new phone is a sprint phone they will tell you cant do it not possible. Dont get worried it will work
4) They will ask you for the phones info give it to them (if they ask u if its a sprint phone deny it all the way) then they will tell you what numbers to punch in follow that exactly the way they say.
5. Once it is done wait a few while the phone gets completely activated on their system. At first text messages might not work and data as well. just give it till the end of that day it should work but if it doesn just wait a little bit.
6. Then make sure you carrier provisioned it make sure to select Sprint.
7. Run the Sprint prl update to make sure you get data working.
** Now for the big one everyone has been having problems with MMS**
Never mind i forgot how to do that one sorry . LOL :toothy10:
8. On a custom rom (i use Mighty rom FF) install the Sprint Arcsoft MMS 5.0.82.79 cab that i atached at the bottom and do exactly like this
*Install the cab to your phones memory
*Soft reset
*Go to Messages
*All messages
*Menu
* MMS options or Pics/Video Options
*Servers
* Click on NEW
*Server Name = put whatever name you want
*Gateway = leave blank
*Port number leave at 80
*Server address: http://mm.myboostmobile.com
*Connect via: Sprint
*Send limit= leave at 500K
*Press done
* Under setting select the name you created and then click on Set as default
* Exit out and soft reset just to be on the safe side then your should be able to send/receive MMS
9) You should have everything working correctly from here its back to customizing however you feel like.

I added the soft reset cab also just to make it easier just install it doesnt matter either your phones memory or sdcard and look for the icon in the start menu press it and it will soft reset

Oh and foreveryone that bought the phone "flashed to boost mobile" there isnt such thing they just did as stated above. There is no flashing to boost and there isnt a boost mobile rom.

If i forgot something let me know ill add it to here or maybe someone else will. If you have any either question just ask.

***If you dont succeed to activate your phone on boost the first time just keep trying but for no reason whatsoever snitch on the rest of us by telling the Boost C.S. rep " I know someone else that has the tp2 connected to boost so it is possible" after they tell you its not possible. Thats the same thing as being a snitch.

*If I helped anyone in any way all I ask for is for you to hit the thanks button thats all*

When I got to the "servers" section, it won't let me click on New. There's a world icon with red right arrow on it that's called SprintMMSC under both CDMA Servers & GSM Servers. This is my first post. I have no clue what I'm doing yet. Mine is a 6.5 Windows/Sprint TP2 that I'm using on Boost

Did you install the .cab directly to the phone memory and then do a soft reset?

Hey your info states you have a touch pro 2 (flashed) flashed to what?

been thinking of switching to boost for a while now. How is they're service for voice/data compared to sprint? Figured it might be the same towers/ network, since Sprint owns boost.. ANyone know for sure?

Their service is the same as Sprint. Except you dont have to deal with contracts or any suprise charges. Ive been using boost for a while now and I havent had any complains. When my phone doesnt have any Sprint signal it roams to Verizon network and i dont get charged for that. Oh yeah and its all unlimited completely and you can tether as well for only $50 a month. Hope this helps

Thanks much for your guide, bout time someone did one. So are there any downsides to it? Can your phone still be insured?

Your welcome thanks for giving thanks. Downsides i think the only one could be if you need it would be that you cant have your phone insured but there is many benefits $$$$$ to it .

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Still can't add a server...sorry I forgot to check back on this sooner. My sprint tp2 is flashed to be used on boost mobile. Yes, I've done the soft reset over & over & still cannot click to add a server on CDMA or GSM servers.

At Expletive, no, it's not the same. I have absolutely no service whatsoever with sprint at my house whereas I had half ass service with boost/nextel there.

Second: The .cab i attached is for custom roms only. you need a different one. look for one thats called boostmmsfix that one should probably fix your problem. If it doesnt just let me know

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Liddysue the .cab you need this cab on post #19 http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/htc-touch-...2-boost-2.html
boostmmsfix.cab just install it to your phones memory and do a softreset and you should be fine.
Worse case just install a custom rom and follow the step by step above and it will work for sure.

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Oh, whatever...I told you this was my first post & I'm not "technically" a geek, alright. I don't know what you call it but who really cares? The issue was that I could not get the picture mail to work & needed the directions to add a boost server setting, on a sprint phone. I finally found it elsewhere. For other people that are having the same problem, here it is:

[FIXED] Boost Touch Pro 2 MMS

@ masetas:
what exactly is a custom rom & why do folks install them if everything is working fine on my hacked/flashed/modified/whatever-the-f-u-wanna-call-it sprint phone that i'm using with a boost unlimited plan? just curious to see if i really want to do all that or stay with what's working?

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Whats not operating right with your phone?
Thats one of the reason we install custom roms because one major thing they bring is stability and better performance

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Hello people. First off, I am looking to use a Touch Pro 2 on Boost Mobile. I currently have a Boost account, but it is for an iden phone, so a question came up for me. Does anyone know if we can port an old number, iden to cdma, ourselves on the boost mobile website somewhere? On my iden account, there is an "update handset" option, but there's nothing about going to cdma from there. I just don't want to deal with customer service if I don't have to.

Also Masetas, thanks for providing a guide. Much appreciated. I'm not sure what you mean by number 6 though. I'm pretty new with cell phone tech/knowledge, so yeah.

masetas 10-04-2010 01:48 PM

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Your welcome for the guide.

You can port an Iden number to cdma at no cost but not sure if you can do it on the website yourself. Boost CS wont give you any hassle they will just do it all they will ask you for is what phone to transfer the account too. Once they answer it takes about 2minutes for the account to be transfered.

*If i helped in anyway dont be shy to hit the thanks button*

bigdinog 10-04-2010 07:02 PM

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

A IDEN number can be ported to Boost CDMA. You might need a cheapo CDMA phone though to get it done. Then, once done, call Boost and tell them you have some other cheapo CDMA phone, (dont say you have a TP2), and presto! No flashing like some scammers on craigslist state. Update your profile and Data should work. For MMS it really depends on what ROM you are in. Why flash to a new Rom? Faster phone, better battery life, more mods!

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Hey again guys. So I called customer service and had them port my number from iden to cdma. He said they were having some issues with the porting but that my line should be up and working within 3 hours. It's been almost 12 hours and my phone is not connected to Boost Mobile, any idea what's up? When I dial 611, it says "your account could not be validated".

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Has anyone switched from Metro to Boost? I have a boost phone on Boost, and it seems sluggish. I have a TP2 on Metro the internet svc is a little slow. I hear since Boost uses Sprint towers the internet svc is faster?

So, my question, any differences noticed switching to Boost from Metro...

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Greetings everyone.....well my TP2 works well on Boost. The speeds are great and I can Wifi Router to my PC, use GPS google and all...but one thing I cannot figure out and it bugs the heck out of me because it is so simple...is.......I cannot picture text anyone.....when I try to send a picture and hit send on the picture the options come up and text is not highlighted only mail which is all my email accounts I have on my phone? Normally on the Sprint network with TP2 the option comes up for Sprint mail....so now that, that is gone, can you not picture text using Boost.......There has to be a way for the phone works perfect in all other angles except that. What am I missing?????

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

I feel like a fool now :( I read so fast I thought that, that was for texting only not picture texting...but anyways...so my next question is...after you install the .cab file....Step 2, do you do the soft reset via the phone using the red little button on the phone by the battery or use the soft reset software you provided? The explanation on the bottom of the post on the soft reset was a little confusing? Thanks in advance!

masetas 10-09-2010 03:41 PM

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

You can soft reset by either method its the same thing. The only difference is that the .cab for soft reset i provided is more convenient because its installed as a program in your phone youll find it in the start menu all the way to the bottom. It takes away the need to have to take off the batter cover pull out the stylus and hit the reset button when with the program all you do is touch the app.

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Alright I got the service working... lol. Had to change the MDN/MSID (which I had no idea about). But just a general question, is there any configuration I need to do (hidden maybe?) to get the web/data running? I bought this phone from another person and when it tries to get data it dials #777 and fails.

edit: Ok so I have an idea of what I need to change... but I can't do it. The phone information still displays the old account (person who I bought it from). I tried doing ##PST# to change that information, but when I enter those keys, it says please enter unlock code, which I don't have or know. Anyone know how I can get this code?

Yes I did, and I figured out what was wrong lol. First, I had to change the NAI to my boost account (was another person's). I was also new to the phone as well as the changing of services or provisioning, so I didn't know I had to do the "update profile" action on the phone. After that, web/data worked. The only thing that doesn't work right now is Sprint TV, and I don't know if it's supposed to work or not.

I will configure the settings for MMS later, since I don't know much about the phone or the .cab stuff yet either. I think I am running Windows Mobile 6.1, and it should also be using the stock rom. And I have no idea about custom roms and whatnot, so I'll just look for guides soon and ask questions there.

masetas 10-11-2010 01:42 PM

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

Sprint TV does not work on boost mobile.

Also you dont have to install a custom rom to make the mms work just read through the this thread and you will find the way to make it work. To install a .cab is very simple its also listed on here and if your running stock go back on this thread a couple of post and you will find the post with the boostmmsfix.cab

Oh yeah thanks for hitting the thanks button. I like to help but l like it more when people appreciate the help you give them.

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

I have gotten about 3 TP2s, and varius TPs on boost, the sprint TV never works. I do not know why. Whatever the case maybe, youre not missing out on much. Do a PRL update and data should work right away. If you got the phone with a custom ROM, install the stock rom 1st, then do the PRL update. After that, you can flash to any Rom of your choice.

Hey I already did the PRL update, and I think the rom is the stock rom, but I'm not sure so how do I check this? And I'm sure there are a couple of guides on here and other places for flashing to custom roms so I guess I'll follow those hehe.

On another note (maybe off topic), there seems to be a problem with my phone... it will randomly freeze for about 5 seconds (very often) and during that time, I cannot input anything. If it's playing music, the music will stop while time it is frozen. If the screen is off, I can't turn it on during those 5 seconds.

It did not have that problem when I first got it. The only changes I have made is the provisioning and syncing the phone to have music from my windows media center library.

Re: GUIDE FOR Sprint TP2 on boost

question, will this work on the regular touch pro??? i tried to do that and didnt work, call the customer services rep and try to activated the phone saying is a boost phone and my brother was using it before but she couldn't do it, i wonder if is because is a touch pro and not tp2, she also say that they where doing it before, conecting any phone with sprint but since people started having problem with text and other things they blocked and as far as i see thats true, she couldn't connect the phone neither i could over the internet, what am i missing????
