I have stop using POP3 on my TP2

I been using pop3 on my Yahoo email account(I paid for the PLUS).

I had it poll the server every 30 mins on my TP2.

It seems to hang my TP2 and it gets worst day by day. It became very sluggish.

I had to do hard reset 3x in about 2 months!

Now my TP2 is fast and lively.

I think Push technology is better.

Do any of you stop using pop3 on your TP2?

DO you have it saving attachments to your phone? How many emails are loaded? Sounds like a storage issue

I thought Gmail set up as pop3 by default. You have to go through the manual setup as described by Google to use IMAP.

Re: I have stop using POP3 on my TP2

On all my phones, I've used imap only, not pop. I wanted the mail pushed right away instead of polling every 5 or whatever minutes.

Although, it shouldn't bog down your phone. I have a LOT of accounts going at once and it's been fine on both the titan and tp.

Re: I have stop using POP3 on my TP2

I use POP exclusively... maybe I shouldn't, but anyways, no problems whatsoever.
Imap "push" uses data, right, so there is no way (on CDMA/EVDO) to have imap "push" not interfere with voice. Instead I use SMS to send me my emails, that is my version of "push". Its fast, doesn't interfere with voice and is kind on the battery... a little script breaks up each email into up to 3 SMSs...

Re: I have stop using POP3 on my TP2

I am not using Gmail. I am using Yahoo and they only do pop3 right?

I only have it download for the past 7 days. And it poll every 1 hr.

It is so slow. It keep hanging my phone. I cant get to the screen.

I have to do a hard reset and not doing any auto weather or stock update and my phone is FAST.

You all dont have this problem doing it in pop3?

I don't use pop, because i would never pay for it. I use my free Yahoo email account on my TP2, which I have set for downloading todays email only every 60 minutes. Works very well, and my free Yahoo account works very well on my Google gadgets.

My gmail account works great too.....

I guess if you only have 1 email account and it's your personal account its good.

How do you answer? Do you have to open up your email client or can you respond via the sms you sent yourself?

Also, I assume you use a pop server at home or elsewhere, and then a script converts it to sms? Could you give us the details as to how it's done in case someone else might like it?

With all my personal accounts and work email, I find it's better, faster and easier FOR ME to have it run as IMAP as it shows up on my phone before my work email client. Also I can reply on the run. So that works for me and haven't had any issues with connectivity.

Re: I have stop using POP3 on my TP2

So using IMAP4 will push the emails TO the phone? why does it have a setting for how often to check email in the setup then? doesnt IMAP4 conserve battery then if its being sent to the phone rather then phone going out and looking for it like it does on POP3? thanks
