settings and homescreen messed up

i have CHT on 6.5.. i downloaded CHTs 4column start menu thing. When i reboot device and tried going to settings no icons show up.. then i use slider to go back home and nothing shows up there either.. Seems once i go to settings there is nothing i can do and it screws up homepage and makes slider malfunction.. i was going to factory reset phone and get rid of a bunch of junk but i cant do that without my settings.. so i guess my question to you smart people is.. how do i hard reset without using option from settings?
