Thanks to kiint on XDA Developers, it's fixed and it didn't even need a reboot! :D

To summarize:

Go to: HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\layouts\e001 0409
Be sure these are set this way:
Ime File = \Windows\et9ime.dll
Layout Text = ET9 IME

Go to: HKLM\Software\Tegic\eT9
Set:
XT9SupportMSSip=0

did you install g2tl's cleanup or tweaks cab? That sometimes causes problems with the keyboard, but generally the kb stuck in the browser version with .com instead of spacebar.

Nope, I never installed those. When it happened, I hadn't installed anything for a week or two earlier.
