Re: why get a google voice number??
I'm moving to Austin in a couple months, so I can use an Austin google voice number instead of changing my phone #. then they'll both ring to the same phone.

Re: why get a google voice number??
Best reason for a Google Voice number is: If you decide to change carriers or for what ever reason the only way to get a good discount on a phone is a completely new line of service it no longer is an issue.
You can give out your Google Voice Number and change the number it forwards to without ever having to bother with letting people know your new number. Works great for when you destroy a phone a pick-up a pre-paid to last you until Sprint caves in and gives you the phone of your choice......J/K.... But seriously it works great for not being tied down to a network. It gives some freedom - keeping in mind it locks you down to Google and their permanent record keeping. Plus the biggest plus of Google Voice is blocking individuals or controlling the flow of phone traffic. Meaning while Verizon, Sprint, At&t and others will give you the run-around that they cannot block a number for you.................You can fix that yourself by creating a block list or treating certain numbers as SPAM like e-mail so that you don't have to be bothered by them! |
Re: why get a google voice number??
Also cheapest international rates around, by far.
Also if you travel internationally, have friends call your GV number which forwards a free voicemail to your phone so you know to call them back, on your cheap intl data plan or skype or foreign SIM card, or what-evah |
Re: why get a google voice number??
i link 4 lines with it..
..also, if you wanted free incoming and outgoing-you can! elimating the need for a pricey phone plan.. take the cheapest plan u can find.. get a GV number and now your carrier sees 0min out and 0min in.. |
Re: why get a google voice number??
Google Voice did fawk up a bunch of my calls/voicemails though.. Several people complained about me not answering, or getting some random error message, and than I found it was cuz of my call forwarding.. Disabled it, uninstalled GVVM, and all has worked fine since..
