Re: gmail imap question... what setting do i have to put it on
I use Comcast for personal e-mail. Open your Gmail on your TP2, then go to Options then Send/Receive Schedule -> click Advanced Settings link (located at the bottom) --> select the correspnding option in the drop-down box (Keep them on the server).
I'm sorry if this is not correct since I don't use Gmail, like I said I use Comcast and this is the way for me to do the same for my comcast mail. |

After deleting on your TP2, isn't that message in your 'All Mail' folder in GMail? This assumes you have selected 'move to server trash'.

Re: gmail imap question... what setting do i have to put it on
When you delete from a handheld, it always goes to All Mail in gmail, not the trash... but there is somewhere in advanced settings to prevent this from happening and leave the original message on the server inbox... don't have hardware in front of me so can't provide more direct guidance... I personally prefer to have the two way sync going so my inbox doesn't get overwieldy, but it's individual user preference...

Re: gmail imap question... what setting do i have to put it on
As I understand it, All Mail is a catch all for sent and received mail, whether you are using a handheld or not. As a result, deleting mail from the Google server is a two step process for most folk. Most folk will delete from their inbox or sent folder and it shows up in Trash and once Trash is emptied the mail is gore forever. That is how most email system work. However, Google in its infinite wisdom, created this 'safeguard' called All Mail where everything resides. Delete it from All Mail it is gone off the Google servers.
Therefore, regardless of any folders set up, the contents of those folder will show up in All Mail. Am I making any sense at all? or is my beverage interfering with my communication |
