it supposedly fixes all the bugs and lagginess found in the older versions and has secure box to password protect your text messages that u want to hide away.. has anyone gotten this to work ?

The messaging client which HTC has integrated into newer releases of the Sense interface has long been infamous for its many bugs, its unbearable slowness, and its lack of unique features.
XDA member G-ThGraf has discovered that the newest version, hot off the latest Sense update, fixes all of these problems. Version 1.8 of HTC’s Messaging Client for Pocket PC seems to have no lag when sending, receiving or composing messages on top of its increased stability. What’s more, the newest release includes a ‘Secure Box’ feature, which allows you to quickly file away your most sensitive messages in a password-protected folder. An impressed user of the new client has made this quick video to illustrate its improvements in performance.
G-ThGraf has kindly consolidated the update into a .cab, which is available in the application thread. The update is designed for use on the HD2 but may not work with all ROMs.

try it, i cant get it to work though. just sits there and cant do anything. im on custom rom.

edit, maybe it did work, after softreset got it working i think. worked once but now im back to cant do anything again.

is the secure box working and everything? i was kinda scared to try it since i saw some people having problems with it on xda i wanted to make sure i did it right thats why i asked here

I haven't really seen any reports on here, good, bad, or otherwise... You could be a guinea pig! Lol! If you do end up trying it out, post up your experience, ROM, and Sense info, for everyone to reference.

i was able to install 2015 just fine and it is much faster. however, there is a noticeable memory drain of about 5mb once you open a new message until you completely exit messaging. i haven't checked to see if secure box is working.

and you are one stock sprint 6.5? if so, i may try it too

If you install this does it replace the existing HTC messenger and integrate flawlessly into sense?

no, I am on leadpoizon's 6.5.X beta right now, but it also worked fine on his 6.5 rom. i haven't tried it on any other roms lately though.

i currently have NRG 23569 Jun 11 Cookie ROM installed with the new v1.8 HTC Messaging client and it is working just fine. It is definitely faster and the secure box works as well.

can anyone confirm if u remove the program will it go back to the regular htc messenging that came wit ur rom?

If i had the time to hard reset my phone(im a pessimist and always prepare for the worse case scenario) id definitely give this thing a try my biggest complaint about HTC sense is the damn lagginess in the htc msging client i used to just disable it using tht ziggy cab hopefully someone can confirm this runs on NRG's GTX rom so i can give it a try otherwise im gonna have to wait a few days before i can.

Don't get too excited. I got it working but MMS just like in all other HTC msg fails. It states it is going out and says success but really does not. Also you cannot receive MMS at all. So if you use MMS then it will be a no go. If you don't use MMS well, then it will work for you, if you cook your own rom. =P

Same thing here. Installed on top of energy rom and mms is not functional, but sms is good.

what if you install MMS cab after this? Will the old tricks work to enable mms?

well I tried it. I can't even get Sense to load after installing the cab and soft resetting.

On NRG's 6-11 rom and it works fine. Did have to add the reg key to get mms to work though.

oh god your on his rom again? that cab eats battery and youll be off that rom fast.

I had to add externalaccounts and sms.htc on NRG's rom.

Working fine for me on MightRom FF. AFAIK, Sprint MMS won't work with the HTC Messaging client 1.5, I really don't see why it would work with 1.8. You can configure it to receive MMS, but it won't send them.

A workaround for pictures is to use sMMS for sending. Or you could install Arcsoft and use it, as you can still access the WM Text App. What would be ideal is to configure Arcsoft for sending, and HTC Messaging for receiving.

Yes, it works for me on Vinrom now. I started from a hard reset. NRG just freezes these days. No bueno.

I use arcsoft for sending and receiving and the HTC messaging for regular texts. good nuff. still have to see if it lags though.

I had this working perfect on vins new cookie rom. Just oculdnt get SMS to work, so got rid of it.

So is it true that there is ZERO lag in the messaging? Sending/receiving AND opening/closing the conversation?

EDIT* So i went ahead and installed this, and so far so good! Im running MightyROM FF and the GTX Sense theme. Everything is working well. No lag so far, but then again I dont have a crap ton of texts right now...

One warning... When you install and soft reset, it automatically sends all the messages in your "Drafts" folder! So I've spent the last 20 minutes telling ppl I didnt mean to send them blank texts... lol!

Just wondering if you have gotten MMS to work. I had it working with HTC 1.5 that Mike cooks into his ROM. But so far I havent been able to get MMS working w/ the new one.
Maybe we need a new MMS cab for the new 1.8


Other than MMS. it is working very well. It is definately alot faster w/o any lag. Hopefully I can get mms working

There's a looooong thread about getting MMS to work with the newer HTC Messages app. The sense messaging cooked into MightyROM is less advanced earlier version, that it lacks the new conversations screen, and a few other features.

As for speed, I can't tell that it's any slower than the native WM text app, which was never really snappy in the first place. The finger scrolling for threads up and down isn't super smooth, but it doesn't freeze up or anything. The scrolling for the conversations is very smooth.

What it DOES do is resolve and issue that's been driving me bonkers where closing a text threads in the WM text app locks up the phone, as discussed over in this thread.

I'm calling it a night... Got everything working EXCEPT i still cant receive MMS... It says "Unable to download." I can send no problem... this worked on previous build of htc messaging, not sure what the issue is now... rrrggg....

Same here. I can send MMS just fine to other phones & email. I can receive them too BUT it wont download the attached image/file. Getting same "unable to download" error. I've tried every old fix from before, including Valkyrie - which didnt work at all. ](*,)

Yeah man. Valkyrie kept killing my data connection for some reason. It never did it before. . . . It's really bugging me now to be able to send fully, but only receive partial MMS. lol!
