google maps gps issue

My wife and I both just got tp2. We both have google maps downloaded. My phone takes forever to pick up the gps signals, and her's does it in no time flat. Mine only finds 5 at the most but usually only holds on to 3 of them. Hers finds like 11 and may drop to 9. This is happening even when I am holding them right next to each other. Any advice or is my phone just crap?

Re: google maps gps issue

Im assuming you have the latest g maps. If not checkout m.google.com on your phone browser to download the latest. Open the app, menu, settings, then make sure 'use gps' is checked. If your phone also has Quick Gps, open that program and 'download' satellites. Last but not least it is the most obvious and usually that gets ignored a lot, open your phone dialpad, menu, options, cdma services, location setting, turn it off, then back on. I hope one of these will work out for you.

Re: google maps gps issue

I luv the swap phone idea, but I think she might notice. Both phones are identical basically brand new like last week. I tried the suggestions about turning the location setting off and on. Ofcourse it didn't work. I think I will go to sprint tomorrow and have them give me a new phone. This phone already corrupted a micro sd card that I had in my mogul for over 2 years. I lost several things on that card, I got most of it back with some recovery software, but not all.

Ya if you have had it less than a week sounds like you just got a bum phone, hope the replacement works better.
