The only people who think the TP2 is junk are the clueless newbies who haven't learned how to make it run right.

I'm not on Sero (VZ user) & I'm certainly not "stuck" with my TP2 (& spending more money doesn't bother me one bit as long as it's for something I really want). If I wanted a new phone, I could buy one tomorrow. I just don't see anything worth swapping to at this time (except the HD2 which I love, but I'm not switching to T-Mobile).

If I bought an Android phone at this time (& I considered it), I would actually loose some of my favorite apps (mainly SlingBox) not to mention the killer tilting keyboard & gain absolutely nothing except the Snap-Dragon Processor (of course I would love to have that)

No, the phone by itself is not "junk". When its compared to any of the phones coming out this month, yes its absolute junk.

This latter point is a deal-breaker for me. I couldn't live without the best app of them all: "The Make that Hot Chick Totally Want Me" App...it plays a special tone that you can aim at hot chicks that make them go nutz over you. It comes in SUPER handy at the beach, clubs, etc. And it's only available for WinMo on TP2s! :evil4:

Just wondering? I've seen like 2 threads today swearing up and down(literally) that its they worst device the OP's had ever used. I think its a decent phone, haven't had any huge problems, just the normal lag of windows lol.

Personally, I think we all just got sick of the slow lag and slight bulkiness of it. I got rid of mine because no matter how many hard resets i did, it still would constantly lag and freeze up on me. I just couldnt deal with it anymore ](*,) But all in all the whole time I had it it kept me happy for a long time. I loved being able to flash and try new roms, i dont even want to root my evo. so i will miss my tp2, But after going to android and having a 1ghz snapdragon processor, i would never go back. RIP Touch Pro 2.

Man, I can't wait for a WM phone with a 1.5 Ghz processor... I just wish they would do it with 6.5 so ppl would see its not the OS that causing the issues. oh well... WP7 here we come!

I can agree but disagree, I think its the OS(blasphemy i know) but even on my HD2, it lags too, which can only lead me to believe its something to do with the OS

Here's a different perspective from a different time era. I am much older I suspect than anyone actually reading this. I own a consulting and software business; I get on here periodically to learn things to make me more productive and I appreciate what I learn. I got on today and learn the TP2 is now obsolete - the EVO has arrived.

To me and many others I suspect in the real world, phones are primarily a tool - not a toy. I have simple requirements:

- The phone must synch reliably with my Mac files and tether flawlessly. The TP2 is the best I have used for doing this.

- The phone must be a phone: great reception, great clarity, great voice conferencing, The TP2 is the best I have used.

- The battery gets me through each day. The TP2 has never failed.

- i need a world phone. It is.

- I like to use notes for voice, sketch, or type. The TP2 supports all.

- I need a real keyboard. The TP2 has the best i have seen.

- i want reliability. This has been a very reliable phone; no hardware issues and few needs for soft resets.

- My laptop is for internet and email. I want the phone to allow basic and readable access to my email service and targeted websites. I find the TP2 to be great for this.

For me, the TP2 is a great phone; I have no interest in paying more per month just to get new technology that won't meet all my needs. I don't do that with cars, TV's, cameras, etc - why with phones?

That said, I appreciate all the passion here as it is nice to drop in periodically and get new ideas for the phone (e.g.gmail for phone forwarding / Bing for voice GPS). Unfortunately, it would seem that tips for the TP2 will now largely go away as the passion moves to the new toy on the block, but i will keep checking in.

android is not without problems btw. many people who jump make it seem perfect, but it's not. you will still have glitches, bugs and OS annoyances... they're ust different than the ones u have with winmo. i suspect that if i was forced to use an older android with the same cpu as the tp2, i'd be dissatisfied. I use both an EVO and a tp2, so i have love for both.

<good points omitted>

Nice write. Yes, there's something to say about a good fit between need/purpose and product. I'm in the same boat: the TP2 matches my needs perfectly, so there's no reason to move on at this time. And to boot, my SERO 500 plan also fits my needs & my TP's capabilities, both at a price I cannot complain about.

I have to admit that I have almost every "toy" I could ask for, so it's hard for me to justify splurging on the latest & greatest toys. There's only so much time in the day to "play."

Oh, and much older, you say? Don't let some of our "juvenile" behaviors quantify are ages. You'd be surprised... lolololol... :headbang:

EDIT: As for speed, quickness, etc., I'm sporting Vin's_Best with CHT 1.8 cab'd in, and have no lag issues whatsoever. It's a solid, quick build. I couldn't be more stoked....
