Re: Whats up with everyone hating the Touch Pro 2 all of a sudden?
The touch pro 2 is a good phone. The problem is that there is no future for it software wise. The playstation 3 was a great video game system specs wise but, there was no good games that came out for it. People fell in love with the wii system not because of the superior hardware but because it had a lot of good game and it was easier to use.
It is a known fact that a lot of software companies have decided to stop producing software for windows mobile 6.5 platform and all of the pervious version and that windows 7 will not be compatible with windows mobile 6.5. Android and the iphone are more software developer friendly and that is why they are getting all the love from the software developers and that is why these platforms are grow in popularity. Even Microsoft themselves have given up on the platform. This has definitely influence the software developers to stop producing software for windows mobile 6.5. |
Re: Whats up with everyone hating the Touch Pro 2 all of a sudden?
I think there are a couple factors.
1) We are seeing what amazing things other smartphones can do without being glitchy, as WM is prone to be. This has all happened very quickly, less than a year. However, the price for the TP2 is the same as the new EVO. WTF? lol 2) I think age isn't being as kind to the TP2 hardware as we'd like. I have more glitches now than I used to. I run MightyROM, but you'd think, as the ROM's mature, they'd be less glitchy, not more. 3) The stock from update for Sprint to 6.5 was a major fail. Their 6.1 was way better. A lot of people want the 6.5 they were promised on the phone, so they go the cooked ROM route, which has its own slew of problems. In short, I have a lot more problems with my phone now than I did when it was new. I woke up today to a frozen phone, had to hard reset. I get the problem where going oiut of a text thread locks up the phone for minutes. I'm getting SOD's like crazy, which really irked me last night when I couldn't answer a call... I've really considered going back to Sprint 6.1 and seeing if that helps anything. Whatever advantages the TP2 and WM platform had over the alternatives is gone. I guess Office Mobile and Remote Desktop a nice, but... they just don't sell it anymore. |
Re: Whats up with everyone hating the Touch Pro 2 all of a sudden?
Now how did this thread turn into another hate thread?
Here's the thing... Technology has been growing fast for a while, is getting faster, and will continue to grow faster and faster. When the TP2 launched, it owned anything else out there, hands down. Now here we are not quite a year later and, suprise surprise, there's newer phones with better hardware. That's like buying a TV in 2000, and getting bent out of shape that it's not as cool as the 3D tv being launched (next year i think?)... So the faster technology grows, the faster ppl get tired of what they have. And the carriers are in a good position, cuz you don't get upgrade discounts for 2 years... There will probably 3 new killer phones launch in that time frame, and you know some ppl aren't gonna miss out on that... |

(as great as some virtual keyboards are: when it comes to full editing and using keyboard shortcuts - i vouch for the Hardware keyboard. Especially with simple remaps like FN+Q = TAB, Holding Mail works like CTRL so I have my CTRL functions.......I mean seriously try doing that with the virtual keyboard even on a Nice multi-touch Capacitive screen it is not as fluid. Not to mention the more added Key-Rows the more screen real-estate that gets eaten up) Plus the only main-stream nosie cancelling built-in speakerphone - which reminds me of Nextels-of-old. (Still have my i95, i920, &i930 - dinosaurs with loud obnoxious speakerphone capabilities) |
Re: Whats up with everyone hating the Touch Pro 2 all of a sudden?
Its because people are stuck on SERO and realize that the TP2 is the last phone that is gonna be released on it. They realize that their phone is garbage compared to other phones coming out right now, and they are stuck with it unless they want to spend a bunch more money. That is why people are pissed at the TP2 right now. Also, as amazing as Windows Mobile is, its a slow clunky annoying OS that has been on life support for years now. Being stuck with one is annoying.

Re: Whats up with everyone hating the Touch Pro 2 all of a sudden?
Here's my opinion,... The TP2 has been the BEST phone I've ever owned and I'm really sad to say that I'm selling it, ONLY because I'm upgrading to the EVO. I really am gonna miss the TP2 Forum. I've learned so much from playing around with the TP2 and installing different Roms. Mighty Mike, Xpressyourcell, Timberwolf, Energy and other great chefs out there made the TP2 a wonderful experience with thier great work. Do I hate the TP2?...Hell no!!! Its a great phone which is why so many people bought it and all the wonderful features it has. The phone is solid and can run as smooth as you want it to if you desire and know what your doing. My hats off to HTC for making a Badass phone and to the people and Chefs on this Forum who made the TP2 a fun phone to play with. I look foward going to the Sprint "EVO",....but I will miss my TP2! With that said,...you guys take care and see you over on the EVO Forum if you ever upgrade! :headbang:
