if your in poor 3G to no 3G and your usb tethering your gonna notice.. especially if your gonna be tethering in 1x...

theres no hack to magically make you get 3G coverage in an area that doesnt ahve it...

USB or BT or phone as wifi hot spot has nothing to do with phone choosing 1x or 3G. Yr true speed is really depend on if the 3G coverage is good enuf so that it doesn't go down to 1x.

I like the Sprint (or any other carriers) maps... They are always useful ..... ;)

you can use every option in 1x... but its not going to do very well for you.. pages will load slow.. downloads will take an excessive amount of time

heh, let him try to surf with 1x if he never done it b4 ;). It's always a good experience to first hand 1x vs 3G web surfing ;)

dude, your only in 1x if not in a 3G area... your phone will tell you what service you have via the taskbar.. sheeesh..

if it says 1x, data will be slow.. nothing you can do about it..

if it says 3G, youll be fine, obviously the more bars the better..

USB, BT, Wifi makes no difference.. its all dependant on your signal

I don't really understand why this is getting dragged out? when your there your ether going to get a data connection or not. it's only going to be as fast as the signal you get. there is no real fancy trick to make the signal faster or better it is what it is.

WMWifiRouter utilizes ICS anyways.. its in the start-up process..

and if your just gonna use WMWifiRouter for hotspot access than USB has better speeds...usually..

if your gonna use WMWifiRouter to access a hotspot and relay it USB to the laptop, then speed would differ greatly in your favor...

your reading toooooo much into this.. if its in 1x, its gonna suck, flat out.. if your in 3G youll be fine to use whatever method you feel is best suitable...

Dude it doesn't matter what tethering method you use. USB, wifi, and bluetooth will all have the same speed when you tether. All tethering methods use the phones #777 data connection. What determines your speed is whether you have 3g or 1x coverage. This has been explained so many times to you.
I don't have sprint so I am not up to date on what the coverage you listed is but just choose a tethering method and use it. A different tethering method isn't going to help you improve speed. Also the coverage maps aren't very good anyway. Just go to the place you will be tethering from and try it.

maybe you should know the ins and outs of your apps, before you tell people that have been using it for years their wrong...

so..... i would say WMWifiROuter DOES in fact have the option to WIFItoUSB..

this option is for like not having a router or wifi-enabled pc or laptop... you can take an existing wifihotspot(ie a hotels,airports,starbucks), connect to it, the tranfer the signal via USB to you PC/Laptop...

now this would be an amazing feature for you to use if you think your 3G connection is weak or its in fact non existent as you anticipated....
with and option like this, you dont need any cell signal at all... the device doesnt even have to be activated to use the WIFItoUSB option...

so there ya go... guess i DO make sense after all..... and if your WMWifiRouter doesnt look like mine, well then maybe you should support the developer and actually PAY for the app..
