For the record CDMA 1x or 1xRTT, is what is used to send voice and data, EVDO or sprint 3g is data only. Reason for this is EVDO is not as reliable for voice as 1x.

Depending on the signal even 1x can give you about 14kb/sec download speed. Not the fastest but faster then dialup or around dialup. (If you want crappy internet try using internet on a cruise ship..so horrible...)
