That said the TP2 has improved management of the heat and temporarily stops charging to help mitigate that issue..and when it gets 100% humid + 90-100 degrees I just place it on a metal surface/point a fan at it.

Either way I do 18 hours on my cellphone tethering easily.

i've done about 10+hours tethering, the phone gets hot, but not too hot (I hope).

Don't worry if it gets to a certain heat it will stop charging until it cools down a bit then resume charging.

Now now..we all know everyone here is a saint who has never done anything wrong in their lives...ever.

but to note..insurance scam is a crime...tethering is just breach of contract.

really, you consider tethering, while I pay for an everything plan, to be on par with you being a con artist? buying an old phone, intentionally making it buggy, just so you can claim it and get a new phone? that is the same as tethering?
to each their own I guess.

boredandtatooed.... Video or it didn't happen. I'd like to see someone try and pull all that off without a single hiccup in speed or connection problems. Downloading torrents and watching a movie plus browsing the web, hah, even cable slows down with THAT much going on. And btw, in case you forgot, 3G isn't cable. You've also got to remember that there are thousands of other people around your area that are also connected on the same network. Granted, you can get good quality speeds, but NOT consistently. I'm not flaming you, I just don't believe all that is possible on a wireless phone network, and over Wifi.

I'm in the same boat as the original poster here. There is NO DSL, no cable available where I live. No FIOS.. yeah I wish. Hughesnet is a f****n joke. Sorry, but I heard way too much bulls*** about them and their sorry ass service and bandwidth restrictions. They've got caps on their bandwidth worse than Verizon and Sprint. It's not worth it. This is coming from a guy who has been stuck on slow ass dial-up for years. It was a godsend when I got my Moto Q9M back in 07. I finally could cancel my dial-up crap I had since April of '99. It was only 800kbps and often I only got 400kbps. But hell, it was way better than a 40kbps connection. Now I have the TP2 and I get an average of 600kbps to 1.4Mbps. I am very happy with that. I can watch youtube videos and download programs in a flash, instead of sitting there and waiting forever for a 5MB file.

Not everyone has access to cable or T1/T3 LAN connections. Don't take it the wrong way, but I think people like you are bandwidth spoiled. You always had a super fast connection. You download 500MB - 1GB movies in no time. Your connection has always been your highesty priority. Anything a pinch slower and it's too slow for you. You are so used to getting the gigantic stuff in a blink of the eye. Like I said, I am happy with my EVDO Rev.A connection. I could never go back to dial-up. It would be hell because even a basic web page these days contains some form of flash or bandwidth hogging ad... or even a Java feature on the site itself. Dial-up woud be torture now.

Btw, I'm using HTC Wifi Router. I have internet on my Windows XP system using a Wifi dongle thing that plugs into the USB port. Sets up in a flash. And, I paid $0 for that app. Only thing else I pay for is my data service through VZW.

I don't know how the hell you are getting away with uusing 30-40GB of bandwidth on a data plan. I can't beieve Sprint hasn't billed you or cut off your account. 40GB? BOOOOM! Don't be surprised if you get a $20,000 cell phone bill sometime lol

yeah id definitely say tethering is a way bigger theft problem than scamming devices.. how many people scam devices, not a ton really.. how many tether, like everyone on this or any other PPC/mod geared type site.. so were talking about 100s of thousands of people tethering..

you mustve missed this http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...ight=tethering where Mighty Mike shows off his $1400 bill and a few others show theirs as well... all for tethering... thats 1 person, in one months time...

now, how much $$$ are we collectively Avoiding in tethering charges?? it FAR out weighs some scammed phones that really cost the carrier significantly less than we get em for anyways..

so what, your stealing too, just not bad as me??? thats like saying you stole one piece of candy and i stole 5 so im worse... yet you stole a piece to yourself...

if your stealing too, which you are, then you really have no right at all to judge my level of scams...

just makes you a hypocrite is all.. atleast im open about what i do and dont try to sugar coat it so i dont look bad..

First of all sprint is a lot more lenient then verizon...while I don't torrent too much unless I am on a trip I get around 20-30gb a month as well..they cannot charge you because it is not part of the contract but they can terminate you account.

In my case though they can't really terminate my account even if they wanted to. They are stuck with me until I choose to close it..or break a rule that was during the time I signed the contract.

now wait a minute, didn't tethering work right out of the box with this phone? i have done nothing intentionally to try and hide it or added any cabs to make it work.
i'm not trying to stealth tether, and if they bill me, so be it. there is a reason I carry around a 4g usb (clearwire) stick. i only tether as a last option. they have never billed me for it, or most people for that matter. i think it is the frequent bandwith hogs that eventually get hit.

you needed to tether, as "a last option", for 10+hrs?? lol, nice try...

and no, didnt work right out of the box... why you think every noob has to make a post about how to get it working, its obviously not plug and play.. and if you have a custom ROM, its already cooked in..
