VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems (Add TTS Delay?)
I have been trying to use MS Voice Command to read text messages, incoming calls, emails, etc. I frequently ride a motorcycle and listen to music on my blue tooth headset (S9).
The problem is that when a message or call comes in, Voice Command begins reading and then is overridden by the ringer (notification). The sound gets bounced between the blue tooth headset and phone speaker, all the while, the TTS is being drown out by the ringer. I have even completely turned off the notification (set to vibrate only) and get the same result but without the notification (sound bounces from blue tooth to speaker and back) This make Voice Command completely useless. I have tried various ROMS, versions of Voice Command and another blue tooth headset, with the same results. Anyone know of a way to hear the TTS through blue tooth while the ringer (notification) is heard on the speaker. Thanks. |
Re: VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems
Some people here have gotten it to work on custom roms here is one thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=98571 there are many more. It will not work with stock rom.

Re: VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems
Sounds like you have all the normal behavior working.
I would dig through the audiopara.csv file. You might be able to surpress it their or in registry. Search for audiopara.csv for more info |
Re: VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems
I've got it working on the stock 6.5 ROM update -- see here:

Re: VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems
Thank you for the suggestions but and after trying them, I still have the same problem.
Is there a way to add a delay to Voice Command's TTS? Basically if I could delay the reading of the message by 2 seconds, my problem would be solved. This would prevent the TTS from starting and being overridden by the notification sound. |

That is why I was thinking a simple delay would fix it. The notification could sound BEFORE on the speaker/headset and then the TTS after. |
Re: VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems (Add TTS Delay?)
What the other poster did was to use a "blank" sound file for the notification. That way the notification sound didn't compete with the voice command. This seemed to work better than just using vibrate mode.

I have tried that but still have the problem where the sound moves from the headset to the speaker during the time that the blank sound file is playing. This pulls the TTS sound to the speaker as well and instead of playing on the headset, it starts and then partially plays on the speaker then back to the headset. |
Re: VoiceCommand/Bluetooth TTS problems (Add TTS Delay?)
Try a shorter blank sound file,
