Using Hotmail with 6.5

-Hello All,

I've noticed that since I've upgraded to 6.5, I'm not able to sync my hotmail to my phone. When going through the normal procedures to do so, rather than syncing my email, it directs me to the windows live website. As such, I'm not able to view my emails in the envelopes as I was once able to do.

Is anyone else having this issue? Is there something different that needs to be done to sync hotmail with 6.5?

I actually found a workaround that appears to do the minimum necessary:

When adding an email account on Windows Mobile 6.5, its first question asks for your email address. Do not enter your msn.com address, but rather something else like dummy@dummy.com. WM6.5 will then give up and let you set all parameters manually. These appear to work acceptably for me:

Protocol: POP3
Incoming mail server: pop3.live.com
Outgoing mail server: smtp.live.com
Authentication in both directions
Username: <full msn.com address>
Password: <msn.com password>

You can go back and change the dummy address later. (You will need to do so, because that gets into your outgoing emails as your return address.)

The bottom line is that Windows Mobile 6.5 doesn't want to support msn.com, but can be forced to do so.

This worked perfect!!

Guys use this info it worked well with my Htc Touchpro 2 with my hotmail.

I used this method way back when and it worked for me. Then i used Sashimi to backup my email settings so i just run Sashimi whenever I flash a new rom, saves a ton of time.

you running a custom rom? if you are you should have that option...running 6.5.x and have that option

it sounds like you don't have windows live installed. Look through your list of programs, and if you don't see it, then you need to install it. Once your email is setup in windows live, you'll be able to see your hotmail in the email tab of tf3d. here's the download link http://mobile.microsoft.com/live/en-...e/default.mspx

it installs a program called windows live. This allows you to setup and access your hotmail, just as you have previously.

i have no idea what raidzero has modified in the version that darren posted, but mine is the official one from microsoft.

Dude man, if u have just upgraded to Official 6.5 you should be good as is, u didnt restore u r email set up? if so ,delete and reset.

All working here without any prob on stock sprint 6.5
