this sucks, it kept happening with my TP1. i got this tp2 in exchange for it so it's no longer under warranty. I doubt it's humidity though because I have a invisible shield on this thing.

On the TP1 it was a known issue, the same should apply to TP2, any sprint users taken this issue to a store yet?

Check with Sprint; I'm certain the warranty is reset each phone you get. My TP1 broke once when they had warranties lasting only 30 days. Then they switched it to a year, so I had to do a lot less insurance claims :). But I got a TP2 upgrade in December after a TP1 warranty issue. They're pretty good at claiming warranty around here (Columbus, Ohio). I just take the phone in and describe the problem, and I don't say anything else (i.e. don't say "well my 2 year old daughter likes to try to open the slider like it's a book," etc.). Good luck!

I dont keep my phone in my pocket and dont take it in the bathroom when I shower. I've had mine since December. Stop f'n up your phones or else lol. j/k I did go through a ten tp's and none had this problem. oh well. Warranty should be a year from the original activation date(original owner).

it happened to my vzw tp2
I may just send it in to HTC and remove the hspl info and stuff that way I can get it repaired under the year warranty
afterward sell my touch pro 2 and upgrade for touch hd2

It started happening on mine too.. Had 3 TPs replaced in past for the same issue, now on TP2. It is definitely something what I am doing wrong. I always keep in Jeans front pocket with screen facing in.
Anywya I am goign to get it replaced and keep the phone in the holster. Anyway this sucks... The quality of the screen should be better since this IS the MOST expensive windows phone you can buy from any career :-(

Re: Blast from the past - square oil patch defect

I too noticed this on my TP2 about a week and a half ago. I called and spoke to a tech support rep, who referred me to an authorized repair center. She said that she had absolutely no problem sending out a warranty replacement, but that if my defective phone was received back at the warehouse, and was deemed to be physically damaged or water damaged, I would be billed for the retail cost of the phone. I would rather remove all doubt, so I am taking it to a store to have them look at it, and hopefully replace it or order me a replacement.

If the store does tell me that it's not covered, I am going to raise hell. This was a known issue with the TP1, and I would find it hard to believe that this would just be coincidence.
