Re: Sprint WM6.5 upgrade: Would you do it again?
i am using spb mobile shell, so i am not using tf3d at all and thus native windows messaging and other features that tf3d seems to have made difficult or more resource intensive.
i have not really had any signal issues like i was with my treo 755p in the same location, nor is my battery life too bad. I can easily pull a full work day out of a single charge with BT, Wifi, data connection, push outlook email and syncing 5 other imap accounts every 30 minutes. i hear good things about WM6.5 but dont want compatibility issues with the cabs I do use regularly. I know I can verify, but its the principle (and PITA) or it. There is a stock Sprint ROM that I can flash back I suppose, but then I need to figure out the RUU and stuff like that to get it installed. Not worth the hassle for me right now. Ain't broke, don't fix it... which is hard for me since I am a tinkerer |

Re: Sprint WM6.5 upgrade: Would you do it again?
I installed the stock 6.5 and used it for about 45 minutes before going back to my custom Mr.X rom. I just found myself liking my custom rom over this stock... Shoot, i cant even remember what i didnt like about it( i was pretty toasted at the time lol).

Re: Sprint WM6.5 upgrade: Would you do it again?
What is there to figure out with the RUU?
It sounds like you have your device set up just the way you like it. If you do decide to flash, I would back up everything first using SPB Backup or Sprite so that if you flash back you can pick up right where you left off... Also, so far I haven't had any issues with programs not working with WM 6.5 but have had a few issues with WM 6.5.5 |

You sound like a person who wants a smartphone and has it currently setup the way you like it. Unless there is something compelling you've read about 6.5, I wouldn't recommend you change just to change. But, don't read too much into all the complaints about the new upgrade - Sprint did a nice job. If you're willing to invest the time to set 6.5 up the way you like it, don't hesitate. Sprint gave us a nice upgrade. It'll feel like a new phone to you (if that matters to you). Last edited by willysp; 03-22-2010 at 05:54 PM. |

Friday afternoon I loaded up the 6.5 update and then after it completed did a hard reset (per someone else's suggestion). Battery drain was immediate and quite evident and the phone remained hot (not warm) to the touch. Let the battery drain until it shut the phone off, removed the battery and let it all cool. Put the battery in and charged overnight to 100%, unplugged from the charger at 8:40 am on Saturday... No phone calls and received 3 text messages and phone was dead and off by 1:30 (with the extended battery). Put the original battery in, full charge and dead within 2 hours. In both cases the phone remained extremely hot (very similar to the issues with the original Touch Pro) and prior to the update the phone would get lukewarm during a call but otherwise was not warm at all. It started immediately after the update the day before it worked fine.. |

Re: Sprint WM6.5 upgrade: Would you do it again?
I would definitely do the upgrade to 6.5 again. I love the new interface and except for a few minor issues was back running at 100% right after I did a restore with my SPB backup. My battery life is also fine.
