Occasional lag spikes when tethering or something like a lag spike

So while tethering on my HTC TP2 I get occasional lag spikes. This has been going on since day one with my TP2. I'm wondering if this is NORMAL for the TP2 and, if it's normal, if there is a fix available.

For example, when surfing the Internet my internet connection will stop for 1-5 seconds and then it'll come right back on. When playing online games, I do NOT get disconnected but rather lag and then my client lags behind but then catches up after my Internet reconnects in the next 3 seconds.

I noticed that when this happens the data arrows on the notification bars go gray before this happens but then light back up to white after 3-5 seconds and then my internet connection re-establishes.

It happens occasionally and I've noticed it's not just my phone but all 3 HTC TP2's that I have in my house (owned by my family members) including mine.

Help please!

seriously? how are you able to game online with tethering?! when i tether it is extremely slow! was there something you did to speed up the connection?!

and to answer your question... it might just be your home maybe? try running some tests in your home and check you connection, and then next time your out somewhere else, try doing another test and check your connection... if it does better somewhere else, it might just be your home.

Well it's basically dial up, isn't it? I've played games on dial before a couple of years ago in middle school. It's no different now. Maybe you're playing the online games that depend a lot on connection speed? I play Warcraft III: TFT and Ragnarok Online. The lag spikes I get are the only thing keeping me from actually playing. I always have to watch out for lag spikes.

It's not my home. I've tested this connection elsewhere so it's related to the TP2's I have.

Does anyone else have this problem? Is there a fix for it?

I have the same problem. On my tp2 pages will load quick then all of a sudden the data arrows are not white and I have to wait just like you said. It like shuts off then back on and loads the page.

No fix that I have found.

Cellphone connection is more on par with DSL then dialup..but its ms can be more spikey for online games...

that said what exactly is lagging..are you using wifi and is wifi breaking up? or is it your connection? If it is your connection you can try different Radios and you may get better luck with one of them.

Yeah, same here! It's so annoying when you're playing online and then all of a sudden the game freezes because your connection has been interrupted.

Really? My highest download rate is 145.1 kB/s compared to 10 Mbps with Qwest DSL.

No, I'm tethering using my cell phone as my internet connection. I have no wifi enabled on my TP2.

It's as the post above you described. We tether and then all of a sudden the white arrows on the notification bar goes gray and then your internet connection follows. 5 seconds later it comes back on along with your data connection arrows going back to white. It does it every so often. Probably on a 30 minute to 1 hour basis.

Would changing to a DDTM mode fix this in any way? I've been holding back and not trying to flash a new ROM and making DDTM work because I don't want to ask for an MSL # from Sprint. >.<

ROM doesn't seem to matter. I tried 2 different sprint radios and it happens on both. Maybe sprint radio is the problem. It randomly stops working for a few seconds.
