SMS Send auto complete works terribly on the new Sprint 6.5 rom... (any fix?)

Anyone know why it is so inconsistent? 90% of the time when I start typing a name it doesn't even try to auto complete. And when it does, it says one or more of the people I'm sending to is unrecognized and asks if I still want to send the message.

Any way to get the old style back on the bottom (the one that actually works)?

I like the idea of scrolling through a list in the new version instead of having to click the arrows at the bottom with the other version, but the performance of the new one is pretty much terrible.
