Using SPB Backup & Sprint 6.5

Has anyone done the Sprint upgrade and also used SPB Backup yet? If so, do you have any tips and/or issues with your backup?

Exactly what were the settings on your SPB backup program?

Re: Using SPB Backup & Sprint 6.5

I used SPB Backup 2.1 to backup my PIM Data(contacts, tasks, appointments) My Doc's and Emails/Text Messages. I imported it all just fine into the new Sprint 6.5 Rom. On the previous 6.1 ROM when I would restore a backup with text messages from SPB the phone would randomly resend some of the text messages. HOWEVER this issues IS NOT OCCURRING YET when taking data from the Stock Sprint 6.1 ROM to the new Sprint 6.5 ROM. Hope this answers your question.

I just upgraded from 2.02 to 2.1 and did a backup. I then went to "Custom Backup" in the phone and only checked PIM Data (contacts, tasks, appointments), Emails & My Documents I didn't see anything for Text messages, is that part of Emails? Also if you check the emails box will that automatically setup my email pop 3 accounts in 6.5 when I restore this information or do I have to setup those email accounts all over again?

Also I downloaded the SPB 2.1 program to my memory card where I also store the backups instead of the device. Is that the correct way to do this?

I would run a custom backup. When you check the email box it will automatically backup your email accounts and text messages and restore them on the new Sprint 6.5 ROM. So you will not have to reset up your email accounts once you have upgraded to the new 6.5 ROM. I would use the SPB Backup 2.1 as it is officially supported to work with both Windows Mobile 6.1 & 6.5 and 2.02 is not. Hope this helps!!

Yes, thanks for the advise. I am going to do the upgrade today and keep my fingers crossed. My game plan is to remove my memory card before doing the 6.5 upgrade and them place it back in the TP2 and do a restore. I'll keep my fingers crossed that the settings on all four of my pop 3 accounts will be restored. I'm not worried about my email messages as they are all stored on online email account servers also so I have no fear of losing them.

I followed your instructions and all of my pop 3 accounts were restored intact.
