And the page zoom keeps zooming in. So I click on a page zoom out, look at page, then page back and have to zoom out again.

WM6.5/Sense2.5 has 2 password unlock options. The default is, ironically enough, called 'Windows Default' and has the slide unlock that you are talking about. To change this go to Settings -> Security -> Phone lock (which will ask for your password) -> Click on the 'Display' tab and choose 'Windows Classic' from the pull down.

Click OK and soft reset and you shouldn't need to slide to unlock anymore, you'll just have to input your pin.
