[DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
To discuss the solutions to this issue, please see this thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=110285&page=5
I am asking EVERYONE to check the times on their phone calendar appointments occurring AFTER 3/14/10. It appears many users' phones are showing appointment times after 3/14 as 1 hour earlier than they really are. I have noticed my phone is now showing all-day appointments as occurring 1 day earlier. I am trying to get an idea of how many users are affected by this, so please post here if you have this issue, and use the thread I linked to above to discuss the fixes. THANK YOU! Additional notes: On Microsoft Outlook and Exchange, the appointments are showing all the correct times/dates, however when I sync, my phone shows anything that occurs after DST incorrectly. |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
lol, i actually just noticed.
Mine all went 1 hour behind as well starting after the 14th of march. hmmm |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Verizon TP2 stock 6.1 rom makes the time one hour earlier.
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Daylight savings starts on the 14th of march. Maybe that has something to do with it.
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
All my appointments after 3/14/10 are earlier by an hour on my phone, while Outlook displays the correct times(I sync via Exchange OTA).

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Your options:
1. read this thread... ...follow link to another thread: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread...=110285&page=5 ...read that thread. ...follow link to an article from MS: http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobi...gs-update.mspx ...read that article. ...download a CAB from that article: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...e-kb975353.cab ...then install that cab to fix the problem. OR 2. Install this CAB to fix the problem. :p |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!

Wow, I have seen this mentioned no less than 2 times in each major rom thread. One of them was by me. lol

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
you can check the other thread for more info but here is my experience and warnings
If you try the DST patch for your phone from microsoft I would delete all appts from your phone, apply the patch and then activesync (i.e. uncheck the sync calender in activesync- it will then clear from your phone-apply patch then re-enable and then sync again) Otherwise you will end up like me with your hourly appts fixed but all the day appts shifted one day earlier!! Honestly I am waiting to see what happens on sunday morning- maybe all those appts one hour early will show up corrected- if not I will do the procedure above again One other warning about the patch- you will notice that when you open up that day you will first see the "hour early" time first and then it will quickly correct to the right time |

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
do i need to do this? because i don't use or sync with exchange/outlook and i currently don't have anything set in my calendar.
i guess the better question is, does everyone, in general, need to do this fix? |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
I sync with Exchange - and appointments that I entered in a few days ago for dates past March 14th are correct. Appointments that I made today for the future had the one hour glitch. I applied the cab mentioned earlier in this thread, edited the appointment on my phone to correct the time - and both the phone and exchange are in sync once again.

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
I have the problem too. Running Mr X's 2.5 ROM. I always assumed it will sort itself out after DST change this weekend.
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
I am going to assume that once the DST hits, it will work itself out!
* i hope * |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Installed the update... Realized my Birthday events were all borked. Proceeded to spend the next hour trying to get myphone, outlook, and my TP2 in sync without duplicates and without b-days on the wrong day.
Finally got it, but it was a PITA for sure. Tried to use the birthday to appointment cab floating around here, but it displayed the b-days lastname, firstname on the events. |

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
My "ALL Day Event's" are one day earlier. For example St. Patrick's day on my TP2 is on the 16th and it says Easter Sunday falls on Saturday. All of my normal appointments appear an hour early as well..... Wtf?

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
I have that "fix" cab in my XDA_UC folder so it's always installed right away, but I still have the date issue occuring after 3/14. I sync my calendar through google sync.

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
I got it to work. I had to hard reset my device, apply the cab patch, then enter my exchange server info and sync.
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
We had this problem on our stock TP2s -- we use OTA ActiveSync via an exchange server. The following seemed to solve it for both me and my wife:
Turn off Time Synchronization. Uncheck "Calendar" from your ActiveSync exchange server to delete all appointments. Change phone time to GMT. Soft reset. Change time back to EST, ect. Add Calendar back to to ActiveSync. Worked for us -- but we'll see what happens on Sunday. BTW, think Windows Phone 7 Series will suffer from DST glitches, too? Never ending crap like this is becoming painfully frustrating but, I expect every smartphone OS has their own similar issues. |

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Don't know if this has been mentioned, but I did the ms tap dance (installed the patch cab and ran the timezone tool), and my appointments were still off by one hour. I then went into outlook>tools>options>calendar options>timezone> and unchecked adjust for DST. This seems to have corrected the problem... for now lol as he knocks on wood.

Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Rinkwide, I tried this and still have the one hour offset after 3/14. This only seems to effect the single appointments, NOT the recurring ones. Running stock Sprint ROM.
Chas123, Let us know what happens on Sunday! |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
What is really messed up is the fact that there is, in the control panel for System settings (on Windows Mobile) a "Windows Update" applet. Sadly (at least under Sprint), this doesn't actually go out to get any Microsoft patches (it always fails). Seems like this utility would be just what people need. <sigh>
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
The MS Cab listed above did not solve the issue for me.
Quote:
One thing to note - after I soft reset and went to change the time back to GMT-5 (EST), the setting had already reverted. Probably due to location settings? When an item is selected in the sense2.1 calender, it briefly shows the time -1hour before advancing it to the correct time. I am unable to scroll fast enough to see if this occurs in the standard calender. :twocents: |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
My calender is displaying the same thing as well but on November 7 when DST becomes in effect again the appointments that were an hour behind are corrected....

QUOTE] Exact same issue for me.....praying it magically fixes itself on Sunday. How f-ing hard is it for MS to figure out DST? |
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
So it's Sunday AM here and I checked my calendar and all the appointments are 1 hour LATE. My 2 PM appointment shows up at 3 PM instead. AAARGH! Microsoft, get your act together!
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
Mine are all fine and I have re-enabled my sync with the network.

Same here - none of the fixes suggested have worked so I am manually updating appointments.
|
Re: [DST] Check Your Calendar Appointments!
All of my holidays were a day early, but the birthday all-day events were fine as far as I could tell. One of my all-day weekend events was set to a day early as well... Why is it so hard to get this right? Syncing with outlook doesnt change the holidays.

Same deal. Applied the patch, and the appts are fixed but the "All Day Events" are a day off. |
