Some apps not working over WiFi

I have noticed that several applications will not work over WiFi. Specifically MyPhone. If I forget to turn WiFi off before I goto bed, my 3am sync fails. There are several other applications like Facebook that will not work over anything but the phones data connection.

Has anybody else experienced this? I've searched but WiFi and any specific apps aren't pulling up any useful information. I've seen this for several years but I'm finally to the point I want to find a fix for this.
