thinking bout changing radios

I am thinking about switching radios. i am currently using the stock sprint radio and havent unlocked my radio. I was wondering for those who have made the jump and unlocked the radio do u think its worth it? Do you see an improvement? At first i was getting great signal strength at my job. Now I im mostly getting no bars (1-2 every now and then and then back to 0) along with a triangle symbol next to the signal indicator. I have flashed different roms and now that they dont mess with the radio and have updated my prl with no luck in signal strength change....i was hoping that a new radio might make a difference and if so then it would be worth paying to get it unlocked....any ideas/thoughts?
