Touch Pro 2 (Sprint) wont switch back to EV sometimes

ok so has anyone noticed running the stock sprint radio on the touch pro 2 that for instance if a data transfer is taking place, for example im using slacker radio..and i get a text message and it switches back to 1x..it sometimes does not switch back to 3g unless the connection stops transferring for a few seconds...if its a steady stream of data it will stay on 1x it seems like forever..is there a fix?

Same problem on any ROM while tethering. Sometimes, if you stop all data (Youtube, page loading) and wait, it will go back. Or, if you make a phone call for like 20sec (voicemail). I used to say screw that, and would put the phone in EVDO Only.....but the TP2 doesn't have that option like the TP1, Diamond, and Mogul had :(

I get this also; If you run Update PRL, it will switch back to EV.

Yes this problem is especially annoying when I'm downloading something on my computer via phone as modem. The through put will drop from between 200Kb/s and 110Kbs/s to 20Kb/s and 12Kb/s. Once I get a text message the only way to get my download speed backup is to restart wmwifirouter's connection.

Annoys the hell out of me too, happens constantly and really F's up Shoutcast and ORB streaming in the car. I've not checked to see if I have the same problem on the stock ROM.

Re: Touch Pro 2 (Sprint) wont switch back to EV sometimes

I have a suspicion that text messages are sent over the old 1x network instead of EVDO and that why the switch occurs every time a text is received. What strange is the inability to automatically switch back to EVDO. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have the same problem on my Sprint Touch Pro2. I had a Mogul and a Touch Pro on which I could do a registry tweak to enable the Mode of Operation menu from which I could select EVDO Only mode, but this menu has been removed from Touch Pro2. The only way to put Touch Pro2 on EVDO only mode is to use a program called WMLongLife. But this program is in beta, and its developer is planning on making it commercial. However, it does work on my Sprint Touch Pro2 (wm6.5 HTC Stock ROM). Can anyone find out how this app is able to manually switch between EVDO only, hybrid, and 1X only modes in spite of the lack of the mode of operations menu in Sprint's Touch Pro2?
