Re: anyone know the stock code for a barrel of oil?
this just seems to be crude oil for the 10th, if you change the 10 to an 11 you get the 11th, etc...
anyone know how to just get todays crude oil price ??? |

Re: anyone know the stock code for a barrel of oil?
There is no "today's price". It's a futures market. "CL" means Crude Oil, "H" means March, and "10" means 2010.
So CL.H10 means March 2010 delivery. Because it's a finite commodity with a specific delivery date, it's not traded like a stock, and there's no symbol per se. When you hear the price of oil quoted on TV, they're quoting the price of oil that is to be delivered next month - which in this case is CL.H10. http://quotes.ino.com/exchanges/?r=NYMEX_CL |

Re: anyone know the stock code for a barrel of oil?
USO will give you the general trend of crude oil but not the exact price. It is an etf for crude oil. I doubt if yahoo finance will give you a commodity quote. Commodity info is much harder to find than stock quote but they are available on the web. Search for free commodity quotes and ou will find some.
