Exclamation Large # of texts = slow / sluggish OS?

I need help troubleshooting this problem... I am new to flashing the TP2 but have been flashing my TP1 for a long time.

I flashed EnergyROM (2/7) with MaxManilla and immediately restored my contacts / texts --> The UI was extremely sluggish, slow performance taking forever to go between tabs and frequently getting "stuck". Pretty much what I remember from the early days of the TP1

SO, I reflashed with the new (2/10) MightyROM because I assumed it would be more stable. I thought maybe the MaxManilla was in early dev stages and causing problems. At first, MightyROM was fine, I did the carrier provisioning and played around with it for about 5 minutes and everything was snappy. Then I loaded my contacts and messages (~1500 texts) and it became sluggish again. After about 5 minutes I managed to slowly navigate the menus to send 1 text. 5 minutes later my phone vibrated (got a response) and I was unable to wake up the screen! I had to remove the battery and reboot. This continued until I did a hard reset.

Any cab I can install to make this thing better at handling large amounts of texts?

EDIT: Also, the pim backup that I am restoring was made on a TP1 if that makes a difference or causes problems...
