g1 to touch pro 2
 

I currently have a g1 however i am thinking of going to the touch pro 2 but have many questions. I will start by asking:

i need a phone that can do video out and have google maps(the navi google maps which my g1 does have)

-does the tp2 have that?

also for messaging is there a way to change it so it is organized in conversations instead of single messages.

the g1 doesnt have threaded messaging ? i believe it does as 1 of my good friends has a g1 & i think ive used his phone in messaging & seen threaded convos

The TP2 has threaded messaging and google maps but currently navi google maps is only available on android devices unless there has been an update im unaware of. The TP2 can also do video out but you have to purchase the cable seperately. If you already have a cable for the G1 it may work, just give it a try.

I assume you want to stay with T-Mobile? If so then taking the leap into Windows Mobile with the Touch Pro 2 will be a trying experience for you, especially coming from Android.
The Touch Pro 2 will do just about anything you need it to do but getting around Windows Mobile is completely different and isn't nearly as "fun" as Android unless you flash a 6.5 rom with sense. As for Google Maps with navigation, I'm not sure as I only use the typical Google Maps and Sprint Navigation for turn by turn directions.
Before making a big investment on a new phone with T-Mobile such as the TP2, I honestly would look into getting on a better carrier with faster data and better coverage/call quality. That's just my opinion though.

g1 does have threaded messages i dint know if the tp2 did... umm I was thinking nexus but even that i dont think has tv out... plus i like the flip hardwired keyboard thing... I really dont care much for the size and i had the 8125 b4 the g1 and loved it, i only changed to the g1 because the 8125 fell and broke.

basically my plan is to plug the phone into my car through the video rca port and have gps on it. Currently the g1 does not support video out.

getting a tp2 on tmobile a month before they drop the HD2 is a bad mistake

Maybe he wants a hardware kb & wouldn't be happy with an HD2
