ReMapping Right (Contacts) Softkey on Home Screen

just search remapping, worked for me when I wanted to find it.

Yeah, thanks, done that. I even have a few cabs to do that. But with the TP2 there's something that keeps you from remapping the right softkey away from contacts. And even if you remap the left softkey you have to rename the RIGHT one to rename the LEFT one...TP2 is funky like that.

So back to my question, has anyone figured out a fix for the funky softkey remapping of the TP2?

hdtweaks works for me or heres a cab that makes right key commanager if that helps but hdtweaks works on both my tp2's.

Any negative side effects to using HDTweaks on Stock ROM on the TP2?

Tried the cabs...still doesn't work. Has the same problem: trying to remap the right softkey actually changes the LEFT softkey; still stuck with "contacts" on right softkey, no matter how you map or label it.

Anyone else?

hi,

go to...

HKLM\SOFTWARE\HTC\Manila

you need to change 2 things...

HomeRSKPath
and
HomeRSKText


(obviously for hte LEFT key you change HomeLSKPath, HomeLSKText)




HomeRSKText is just the text you want to show up on the bottom of hte Today Screen (what you click)

HomeRSKPath is where you need to point it to what you want to activate on click.


Not sure what you are trying to change it to though so...

tkjames try this, I changed my keys a bit ago by doing this, I searched first for remapping, and it came up with a thread that showed this in it. I then went to http://nowsci.com/registry-changer/ and used that to make the cab for doing it auto after fresh install... thats what I meant by doing a search and youll find it.

Well, still no luck with the key remapping. Even with a registry edit, adjusting the right softkey changes the LEFT one.
Just FYI, I'm trying to change my right softkey to go to "Tasks" and label it "To-Do List". I've tried numerous cabs, did the hands-on registry edit, used HD Tweaks, Advanced Configuration....nada! And I don't think it's just me, cuz when I was searching for programs to build my phone I came across a LOT of threads discussing this right softkey issue. Dah well.

On the up side, thanks much for that site about making a custom cab. I'm going to have to sit and go through it to make some. Never came across that on my search! Much appreciated.

there was talk of the right changing the left in the remapping thread I found too, but I tried it and it worked/s fine for me on verizon
