Any Touch pro2 application experts out there?

The new cargo company I'm flying for uses a real basic .exe program for weight and balance purposes that most guys use on their laptops. I thought it would be great if I could get it to work on my touchpro2. I dragged the exe into the program/application section of the phone via the sync cable but of course it wasn't that easy. Is anybody interested in looking at it for me? If you could get it working I could take up a collection amongst the other first officer's to try and pay you for your time, i dont know how much I could get donated but I'm sure a windows smart phone user would find it quick and useful not having to fire up their laptops to use a simple Excel spread sheet type program. Between 1-160 copilots each throwing in a few bucks might make it worthwhile. If you'd like to give it a shot... I'll email you the .exe or give you the url to download it from.
Thanks for your time and or thoughts on the matter.

exe's for a pc are different than exe's for mobile. You would need the source code to be able to build the program, and that is a hard task. It is impossible to decompile the exe into the source code. Therefore, you need to obtain the source code from the cargo company, and they are unlikely to hand that out.

Thanks Dgourd I wasn't aware of that.
I guess I'll call the company and see who wrote the program maybe he can
lead me in the right direction and/or be willing to share that info. To make things quicker safer & easier for us flying on the back side of the clock they might work with us.
I appreciate the info I didn't think it was so complicated for something that looks like a
excell spread sheet based program.

The main problem is that they are formatted differently. You can copy the 'behind the scenes' operations (calculations) that the program does from the source code, but you need to completely redesign the interface.

what is the program, I'm sure there is a program that is similar.

do these work?

The Pocket PC calculator program performs the following tasks:
  • Fuel burn rates or endurance time
  • Weather
    • Temperature conversions
    • Wind Chill
  • Density altitude
  • Course, heading and wind solutions
  • Wind drift / crosswind component calculations
  • Time zone conversions
  • Weight and balance (store multiple airplanes' data)

Two sources that can provide the data points needed for defining the c.g. envelope:

  • Precise weight and balance calculations available in an "Empty Weight" or "Operating Weight" configuration.
  • Longitudinal CG Envelope for ALL aircraft & helicopters.
  • Lateral CG Envelope for helicopters.
  • Instant display of weight and center of gravity during critical takeoff and landing stages of flight.
  • User-Friendly touch-screen interface for quick & easy data entry at all skill levels.
  • Colorful indicators and reference points capture immediate attention.
  • Multi-Module functionality lets user import an UNLIMITED number of aircraft modules.
  • Set Defaults minimizes data entry by auto inserting user-defined values for pilot names and weights, flight origin, galley, baggage compartment items and so on.
  • Max Limit Monitor analyzes fuselage stations to prevent a maximum structural weight violation.
  • Approved Load Manifest fulfills your civil aviation authority recordkeeping requirements (FAA, CAA, CASA, EASA, JAA, Transport Canada etc.) and includes the following parameters:
  1. Number of passengers
  2. Total weight of loaded aircraft
  3. Maximum allowable takeoff weight (MATW)
  4. Maximum allowable landing weight (MALW)
  5. Forward and aft center of gravity limits
  6. Center of gravity of loaded aircraft
  7. Aircraft registration and flight number
  8. Origin and destination of the flight
  9. Identity of crew members and positions
  • Standard Weights can be auto entered according to user-defined passenger categories (i.e. Adult, Child) and weights, baggage and carry-on weights and even auto adjusted for Summer and Winter weights.
  • Time Stamped W&B Records can be printed, saved and even emailed via an Internet connection right from the ****pit for simple and accurate record keeping.
  • Supplemental Type Certificates (STC's) are integrated for FREE so your software displays a CG Envelope with the increased takeoff weight.
  • US, Imperial & Metric units of measurement available.
  • Up to 5 Mobile Device Installations per business with additional licensing packages available for larger organizations and government entities.

Aviation Calculator (E6-B type)

Flight Calculator contains 17 aviation related calculations.

It can be accessed directly from the main screen of the Pilot Quest as a stand alone application or from the test where the student can use it as a powerful tool for solving specific aviation problems.

Flight Calculator main screen contains an index of the aviation operations available.

Sample operations:

Endurance
Given: total fuel, fuel consumption(/hour)
Calculate: time endurance

Heading and Groundspeed
Given: wind direction, wind speed, true airspeed and course
Calculate: groundspeed, heading

Weight / ARM / Moment
Given: loading data
Calculate: weight, ballance and CG of the plane

Flight Calculator Tools

Flight Calculator has a large scale of conversion features.

Memory
Flight Calculator has a special memory which stores results. The special feature of this memory is that it stores results related to the type of measure of the parameter. By a simple click on the left side of a parameter label you can access only the values related to this kind of parameter.

Standard calculator
By using the display box of a specific parameter as a standard calculator display, you can do simple math calculus.

Use Flight Calculator from test

When you access the flight calculator from the test, specific question related information such as question additional images and question overview is transferred to it. This in turn can be used in helping you solve your problems.

Send me a PM with your contact info, I'll get with you tomorrow and we'll see what we can do. If it's a simple W/B it should be no big deal, as long as you're not talking something that needs to be TSO'ed :-) I take it you're focusing this on a specific bird..?

Re: Any Touch pro2 application experts out there?

Hi Bob,

Thank you so much for all the information I will look into making some of those applications work for me. The program that I was trying to get to work is specific to a group of DC-8 freighters that we fly. (tail numbers, wgts, dif. wgt. stations, and 3 different series of the DC-8,etc.) I could make another program work but this one I'd like to spend the time on now because it has no frills. We use it to do a real quick and simple check on what the flight engineer hands to us. I do appreciate the links though and I know I'll use some of them!
Take care,
Steve

PS- came back to edit this and say that eflight softwear is pretty fancy stuff!
(but then for $800 for one model of the Dc-8 it better be! :-)
