Wirelessly posted (TP2 Biznitch: Opera/9.5 (Microsoft Windows; PPC; Opera Mobi/17992; U; en))

Its called push email. There are a few free options like gmail or alol.net.br. Search the forum for more info.

Re: Auto Email

Simple answer - Leverage Gmail for this ability.

1. Get a Gmail Account if you don't already have one.
2. Setup email forwarding on your existing email account to your Gmail account.
3. Configure your Gmail account settings to "Send Mail As" for your existing email account.
4. Configure the Gmail account on your phone...Done!

Re: Auto Email

For push email with gmail you have to set it up as an exchange server. There are instructions and info for setting that up here. From what I have read around here and experience this is the only account you'll get push email. But, if you have your other accounts forward to the gmail account like HTC_TP said, you'll get them almost instantly.

It just really depends on how many emails you get. The more that have to be pushed the more batt life will decline. As for overall, I would think it wouldn't affect that too much, maybe even better the life, because the emails are pushed to the phone versus the phone having to login and check the server. But I could be wrong bout that last part

Just to be clear, it (if we're talking about gmail) is a real Exchange server, not a faux one or a work-around.

I've done it both ways and ended up concluding that if I check email every 5 minutes it's break-even. If I want to conserve battery, my belief is that I'm better off not doing push email and checking every hour or two.

I don't need it anymore, but I had push email set up for my Hotmail. This only started last year when Microsoft started pop3 access. Anyway setting it up through Windows Live, you get the option to have emails receive "as they arrive" or something. So I assume any msn, live email addresses should work as well. HTH.

Re: Auto Email

I apologize if this is a stupid question - Is there a way to change the name of the account after you've set it up for auto sync? It comes up as "Outlook E-mail" in the accounts section. I was hoping it could be changed to something more descriptive since I have multiple email accounts coming through.

Thanks
