Re: Battery draining, dont know why?

Forgive me but I havent figured out what stock rom means yet? Only been on the boards for a couple of weeks.

and another question, If I hard reset, do I have to reinstall all of the cabs that I have on my phone right now or does it just erase contacts and texts?

Sorry, didnt know how deep you were.

I was assuming you were running custom ROMs, the stock ROM myself (or if you see posted) are referring to is the software that came on your phone from the factory.

And yes a hard reset will bring your phone back (if your running the stock rom) back to the day your turned it on for the first time.

*All data, settings, contacts, texts.....poof disappear*

This will wipe clean all settings and programs you have installed. This is the last resort method to insure its perhaps the hardware and not some rogue program or setting that's causing issues.

Re: Battery draining, dont know why?

Stock rom is the one that came installed originally.
A hard reset is just that, your ppc is back to day one, meaning you start from scratch and install everything. If you are keeping the same rom, then you could use a back up, but if it's a new rom, start installing all over, because the ppc itself is empty and doesn't recognize any programs on the storage card either.

Re: Battery draining, dont know why?

I'm running Merdin's Rom Manila 2.5 with some added Dusk stuff. And I flashed and reset quite a few times last week and it always resets to the current rom that I have installed. It never goes back to the original sprint rom. Scared to flash again, phone is brand new cant afford another one right now.

Re: Battery draining, dont know why?

Hard reset will erase everything that is on your phone's memory. It won't touch anything on you SD card, so if your cabs are located on your SD card, they won't be erased, but the programs installed on your device by the cabs will disappear and need re-installation.
You might want to try the hard reset without installing any programs. Then see if you are getting the same crappy battery life. If you are, most likely there is something wrong with either your battery or your handheld. It's hard to tell which one based on the information you've said so far.
If you get good battery life after the hard reset, try installing your programs one at a time to try to determine which one is causing you a problem.
I'm no expert, but if I was a betting man I'd say the hotmail application is polling too often and causing your battery drain.
Of course, I'm not a betting man because I have a serious gambling problem. My problem is.......I always loose, so take my advice with a grain of salt.

EDIT...OOOPS, looks like I took to long to type an answer. Others have given you good or better ideas.
But, as always, my free advice comes with a double your money back guarantee.

Yes, it will reset whichever ROM you have back to default.
There, that's better...

I would try a different ROM and preferably without 2.5 but that's just me....

Anyway, good luck.

2.5 alone is not a battery killer.

I am running the NRG 21885 Dusk ROM (manila/sense 2.5) & my battery life is fine (awesome ROM).

If I set my phone on my nightstand with a 100% battery & it doesn't ring all night, it is at close to 100% battery the next morning.
