If windows lowered their prices and started advertising the amount of money they would spend would need to be made back up in phone sells, which probably wouldn't happen. If you have much demand then lowering your prices isn't that hard.

You're close but not quite accurate. The first iPhone actually was that cheap. And the reason it is cheap is not because Apple expects to sell so many. It's because Apple was making money off iTunes and the app store.

No matter though, the point is the same- the iPhone comes in at around half the price, so that is a major factor on why it sells so well.

It should also be noted that when the first iPhone dropped, Windows Mobile phones were going for over $400 and $500 on contract, and around $650 full retail. SO people were looking at a Windows Mobile phone for $500, with a then $30-$45 data plan, versus an iPhone for $200 and a $20 data plan.

Well I think you and me are a lot alike in real life. Our disagreements were never that serious.

Having said all that, the iPhone fanboy is pretty funny. I can see making a case for Android, because it really is tight like that. But you have to jail break an iPhone to get decent functionality from it. Say what you want about Windows Mobile, but at least you don't have to jail break it in order to do what you want with it. And you don't have to worry about Microsoft trying to brick your phone because you jail broke it.

Re: Is Windows Mobile Vanishing?

Hey I just made a post about this, but then I thought it's probably relevant in this thread too...

We were talking about the Slingbox, and there's a new version of the Sling Player for Windows Mobile. It's more finger friendly, has a widescreen mode, and supports more devices.

Check it out here:

Sorry iPhone users, I know you don't care about watching a game on a Slingbox when you're stuck at work or anything like that, but it's still pretty nice, lol.

The original iPhone was $600.00 and a lot of people were pissed when they dropped the price to $400. Remember the woman who tried to file a lawsuit against Apple because she paid so much at launch and they immediately dropped the price shortly thereafter?

Here is an old article from Gizmodo talking about the original price drop...
