true, but there are some companies that can use other cdma carrier branded phones, not all but some. my friend had his sprint tp 1 on metro piece of sh!t . but i was '+1 ing' the part about using a sim card.

I tried putting a Bell SIM in my phone and it doesnt work at all. Any suggestions?

1) Are you sure your phone is set for either GSM Mode or Global Mode?
2) Are you sure your phone is not able to receive any signal from US-based carriers (i.e., you're not right on the border)?
3) Have you checked to confirm the SIM works in another phone?

I recently got back from Mexico, where my TelCel SIM's worked fine in our TP2's. When the phones were in Global Mode they wanted to use the CDMA signal that was available where we were (and would have resulted in large roaming charges on Sprint) but in GSM Mode everything worked as planned.
