I Hate This Phone.

I've had it for about 10 days, tried three different Energyroms, right now i'm reflashing to stock, and sending it back to USC within the 30 day trial period and dumping my money on a samsung mesmerize. Always thought HTC was a decent phone brand, never had one before, heard a lot of positive about them. At this point i'd rather have my old Alcatel One Touch back.

Thanks for all the help guys.

HTC makes a fine device. I think the issue may be the OS...

Re: I Hate This Phone.

the phone doesnt have much balls. specially for todays standards. As much as I like the OS, I really cant stand how they have yet to release a device on sprint that makes WM shine.

PS: I'm sure I'll get flamed for this, but I hope xda pulls off a port for the htc 7 pro. Either that or M$ decides to revive the WM platform..

Nope, no flames, and yes, if you stack it with apps it does slow down a bit, though I rigged mine to be simple and zippy. Wouldn't it be nice if you could buy cpu's for these things the way we do for PCs

This statement is so true! I went from a Treo 700w to a Mogul, to a TP, to a TP2 and all along the way I found myself constantly flashing ROMs, over clocking, managing memory, etc., all just to get the device to do what I wanted it to do. More times than not – it failed me quite often - from getting out an email to, using GPS, or even taking a picture. All due the crappy specs of these phones.

Now that I am in back the UAE for a while, and no longer subject to a contract, I picked up the crown jewel of Windows Mobile – an HD2 (a T-Mobile Version of all things). Wow! This is how Windows Mobile is supposed to be. Smooth. Quick. Responsive. Even with the same ROM for the past 3 weeks. No slowdowns, no memory management issues (290MB Free after boot up). I am able to browse the web …finally! I can open multiple apps, and still come back to them. I love to be able to pen a few otabs in Opera, and take a call, and send an email, and come back to Opera and my tabs are still open. I think most people were turned off using Win Mo, and if the hardware was where it is today (over even last year with the 1Ghz Snapdragon), I think it would not have gotten such a bad rap. Obviously there are major shortcomings, and designing a new OS in WP7 was necessary, but I still love Win Mo and Sense, CHT, GTX, sencity, etc...it's hardly a dead OS.

OK, I’ll leave now.

carriers bugging up stock ROMs is what turned people off, the original droid was released with nearly the same specs as the tp2 and no one bothered to bash it. most of the TP2s bashing has to deal with the beef that people have against MS for some reason.

That's because Gates is evil ! Evil I tell ya ! Satan ! Bring the pitchforks ! Heck, the guy donates most of his fortune to set up a charity that actually tries to help people, and still every lin-geek out there hates his guts.

Anyway, now that my wife has an Android phone, I'm salivating... the speed of OS and the seamless Google integration is just amazing. OTOH, perhaps if I enabled the push internet and automatic updates on my phone I'd have a close web integration experience (and an equally sucky battery life). TP2 is still much prettier (no Sense on her Optimus S), and with a custom ROM I can now finally use Sense. Still, I'd say as long as hardware holds up TP2 is a very, very good phone. But my next one is most likely to be Android.

I think it's the os, not the phone. I myself still use the tp2 when I go out of the country and I have energy rom on it. Without it I would slam the phone against a wall. I feel your pain. I would give htc another chance, this time choose android or wp7.
