correct, you do not have to install anything to use this phone on any gsm network anywhere besides the US, it is completely unlocked.

a rom is like operating software that runs the phone. initially the phone is locked meaning you will not be able to change the rom. our wonderful commmunity has very talented people who were able to unlock it and now we have the ability to cook our own roms to better suit our needs and increase the speed of the device etc...

i suggest to not do anything at this point, just make sure the device is set on gsm only and it will tell you to set up the data connection with the carrier based on the sim card. i am assuming you already did this because you data is working. the sprint rom is stable and for noob will be fine for now.

Like others read all the major sticky post pertaining to the basics to better learn the terms of how to unlock the device and enjoy custom roms and the like. Good luck and welcome to our world.

im confused
because mighty rom is only for cdma?
but i thought i changed mine to gsm ?
ahh T___T please someone save me from my confusion!

Mighty rom is for cdma phone and you have a cdma phone. so even if you choose to use the gsm radio you still can flash only cdma roms. I personally use mightyrom and when in europe use a local sim card and enjoy mighty mike's rom.
