Program Install Questions
A refurb TP2 is en route to me, theoretically WM6.5 according to the Tech Support guy, and if so, I'll need to reinstall all my apps, rather than using SPB to restore a Backup since I'm using Stock 6.1 ROM now. This has raised some questions:
With regard to Apps that I previously installed, selecting the Card as the place to install, rather than the device:
Other than a shortcut being put in the Start Menu, what other files or registry settings are placed in the Device memory?
The reason I ask is that, for example, I installed Text Twist on my card, and when I had to do a Hard Reset using a Backup that pre-dated installing Text Twist, I reinstalled it afterwards. All my previous Game Scores were gone. I would have assumed these were stored on the Card, since that's where the App was installed, but either this is not true, or reinstalling to the Card wiped out the previous values. What's the scoop here?
Should I therefore not reinstall Apps previously installed to card, or just manually put a link in the device's Start Menu? Or are there other things that take place during an install that require a reinstallation, even if it is to the Card?
Also, I generally will install to my (16gb) Card for obvious reasons, but which Apps, Utilities should be installed to the Device? Are there any general principles concerning where any given App should go, since they often don't specify.
Also, since I'm not using a Restore, presumably I'll have to re-create all my Email Accounts (I assume a simple ActiveSync with Outlook will not do this). This isn't a real biggie, but is there a way to copy files from my previous 6.1 ROM installation that will accomplish this without having to manually re-enter all the Email Server Addresses, Names, Passwords, Configuration choices, etc.?
