Set text message ringtone on Touch Pro 2

How do I download ringtones and set them as text message tones? I have tried downloading them and saving them in every possible folder (my documents, my ringtones, sounds & my music) but I havent had any luck.. I even tried saving them on my memory card.
(FYI - The ringtones work for incoming calls but not text messages..I have a sprint touch pro 2)

what i had to do was convert them to .wav format and place them in the windows directory (where all the alarms are). after doin that they became selectable as a sms ringtone

use any wav file and save it to ur /windows folder... the file should then be visable and usable for alarms, text msg alerts, e-mail alerts etc. if you need more of an explanation pm me!

how do u turn them into wav? if you use myxer?

You can convert them with winamp, for example.

Are you able to set individual ringtones to unique users with this? Ie, could User A have A.wav for a text message ringtone, User B have B.wav, etc, etc...??

Good question. I've been using myxer. I havent found a mobile app to convert.. I'm not even sure if there is one! Hopefully somone will take pitty on my and post the name of a good converter I can use on my phone???

I honestly havent tried. I really just need to be ablt to set 2 types of ringtones-incoming phone & text!!!
P.S. The files I have are saved in the "mp3d" format. I tried to save them in the "wav" fromat when I downloaded them but was not able to.

As far as I know, the answer is no. You can only do that for phone call ringtones and that has to be set within your contacts.

Use the file explorer and find the ring or alert you want, say, something cool you downloaded, it can be .wav, or .mp3, copy it.
Then using the file explorer, go to Windows/rings and paste it in the rings folder, then reboot your phone, then you will be able to set it as your ring tone for text message

i dont have a wav converter... I just google what i need there are 1000's of sites with a grip of wav files... for txt msgs i have comedian Jerry seinfeld saying "what the hell is email" for emails i have aol "you've got mail" i used to have the 1up (extra man/life) sound for txt msgs.
