It jacked up the homescreen for call history and calendar. The day is in fact working but I had to uninstall. I did soft reset after install.

Oh sorry, probably because my manila is different because i have a mod that clears call history and calendar (fyi if you do have a missed call or a calendar item they will show up).
The cab I made uninstalled. You can just uninstall it and it should all go back to what you have.

I too would like this mod... but not sure now what to try. Looks like the cab file is a no go? I am on VZW with a TP2 on Mighty room also...

I tried working with a reg hack off xda but it takes the calendar appointments away:

---
HKLM\nls\overrides
- Create a new String named "SLDte"
- With value ddd d-MMM
(all without quotation marks)

and string...

HKLM\nls\overrides
- Create a new String named "SSDte"
- with value: ddd d-MMM
---

So what about that manila file that was posted....is it safe or not?

Tell me what you want to do exactly maybe I can point you in the right direction.

I guess that one slipped through the cracks, not only for me, but a lot of others. It's hard to get a search result that far back, or use the right term when you are looking for "day". That's why I ended up finding it in the TP1 section.

Thanks.

It's safe, and reversible. You have to just make a copy of the file, put it on a PC, and use Notepad to edit it, get it back on your phone, turn off TF3D, use Total Commander to Move it to the windows directory, turn TF3D back on, and you're done. (See 1st post)

But as with any changes, why not use your SPB Backup and do an extra backup first? Whenever I'm making changes, I do an extra backup for the day, and just add an "a", "b", "c", etc., to the end of the backup filename (I do an extra backup after every few changes I make, so there can be several during a busy night of hacking). It makes any issues very easily, and incrementally, reversible. PIM Backup just won't cut the mustard for this purpose

Yea it's definitely safe and reversible. I messed around with it a few times (i.e. added a "," after the day etc.).

I should have done that too. Maybe if I'm bored. At least I can see what day it is now (yes, I'm starting to forget in my old age lol)

Ummm.. you dont need to edit reg keys for that, you just deicide how you want it to read within setup in regional settings

Yea you could do that but it doesn't give you an option for a day of the week abbreviated in 3 letters. Or the format I used, e.g.: Thu, Jan 7, 2010.
The only option for day is the full spelling of the day.

EDIT: I don't think those region settings affect the manila 2.1 home screen at all... so YOU NEED THIS EDIT to get the day on your screen.

Nice job OP! nice little change to the homescreen.
is it possible to make this change for manila 2.5 too? if so, a cab would be helpful to many of us. a clean cab for 2.1 couldnt hurt either.. i think the one posted has some issues, correct?
