Wired Headset Connected Issue

My HTC Touch Pro 2 has no sound at all as of a few hours ago and there's the icon for the Wired Headset Connected and it won't disappear even though there has never been a wired headset connected. I suspect this is the culprit and I have no idea how to fix this problem.

Does anyone else have this same issue or something similar and is there a way to troubleshoot this?

Try a soft reset (remove the stylus, battery cover, then poke the red reset hole on the side) and see if that helps. If not, go to your Start Menu and click on settings. In the settings menus, you will find an option marked 'Clear Storage'. Before you use that option, back up anything that you want to keep that is not on your storage card or SIM card to your PC, as that option will erase all of it.

The 'Clear Storage' will reset everything to factory defaults. If the sound works after this, reload all of your programs one at a time until the issue re-appears. Then you'll know the culprit. If the issue is still present after the hard reset, all I can say is that I hope you have insurance. If so, take it into a corporate-owned Sprint store and they will attempt to repair it. If they fail (and you have TEP) they will replace it free of charge.

Good luck. If I helped, don't forget the 'Thanks' button.

Yeahh, I've already tried a soft reset, clearing the storage, and a hard reset and everything has failed me. So I guess if I can't figure this out by the end of this night, I'll head over to the Sprint store.

try putting the headset jack in and removing it a few times, this usually works. if it gets back right, don't use the 3.5mm jack, they are suspect.

I also have this problem and tried to do that, but without any success...
The phone was fine last night, and today when I woke up it was with the headset icon and without any sound...
And the weirdest thing is that I never used a 3.5mm jack or other headset, until today after this happened...
Tried every solution I found at the web and the only one that worked was blowing some hot air (used a hair dryer) into the hole - a user said that this may work in some case related with the weather and humidity - but after 15minutes the icon appeared again and the sound was gone. The only time it makes a sound is at boot screen of Cookie 2.5 GTX.
By the research I made, it appears that this is a common issue with these Sprint Pro2, but my problem is that I live in Portugal and bought it from USA through eBay about 6months ago, so the warranty or any other store repair is out of the question :(

Try what doc mentioned... Find a set of headphones and plug and unplug them a few times... This seems to have resolved this issue for some of us in the past... The other thing I would suggest it a soft reset with a set of headphones plugged in... Then unplugging the headphones and trying another soft reset.
Good luck bros... Let us know how things go.

Re: Wired Headset Connected Issue

I use wired headphones DAILY... Haven't had that issue since my first TP2 back in the day. But I tried what I posted up above and never had an issue again.
I love my S9 HD Rokrs but the battery doesn't quite last the whole work day and I listen to music all day long and on the drive home.

Already tried both things on and on during the day without success;
hard-resets;
various roms;
cleaned inside the plug and "poked" it around with the stylus and a clip;
the only good result I had was blowing hot air with the hair dryer, but after a few minutes went stuck in headset again.
Tomorrow I'll try blowing into the plug with a stronger compressed-air gun because someone told me it could be due to dust particles or some dirt from the pockets.
Also told me that this could be the inside contacts bended but I find this difficult because I never used the 3.5mm jack.
Due to the hot air experience I find more probable it's humidity or dirt/dust.

Like I said, I NEVER used the jack and when I went to bed the phone was fine. Something that happened during the night or already "was expecting" to happen any time and now it did. :(
