Looks like you have a trip to the Sprint store in your future my friend. May I reccomend the one at the mall on Friday?

Although a trip to the States would be a pleasant idea, for that reason I've mentioned would be a little bit difficult...
I think that Portuguese Htc authorized repair company only work with the gsm versions and besides I know that a repair without being covered by warranty is very expensive.
tomorrow will try cleaning with compressed-air and any other solutions that appear and when running out of options will open it up and try to fix the possible jack plug circuit/malfunction.
Possibly its end would be kept in the drawer or sold "as is" to someone interested.

maybe it's a little bit early to celebrate, but the phone is working fine now:headbang:
I stayed for almost an hour blowing inside the jack plug hole with a pistol of an air compressor and it worked! at the beginning the headset icon began to appear and disappear, so I insisted for a long time and succeeded.
it has been past 4hours and still working normal, hope that stays this way.
