Do you use a clear screen protector???

I was looking at the screen protector for my TP2 and was wondering if others are using them or just making do without them.

It looks like it'd leave a mess if you were to eventually remove them so I'm not all that keen in putting it on if I'm going to have problems later.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

It won't leave a mark if you take it off.

Highly recommend you put one on.

If you get it on perfect you won't know it's even there.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I'm most definitely using a screen protector. I learned to use one the hard way in the days of the 6600 in which I received quite a few hairline scratches for not using one.

damn skippy i use one... nothnling more annoying than feeling tiny scratches or seeing the little bastards......

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

yes, use one. otherwise you will be on here in the future starting a thread saying you dropped your phone on its face... (nails to chalk board). The ones out these days don't leave any goo, even if you use a spray like with zagg or bodyguardz. You may have to wipe but thats about it. Just remember to flush.

Definitely, i don't want scratches on an expensive phone.

yep i use one. when i had my diamond i used the one that came with the phone that worked great. but on my tp2 im currently using the clear one from boxwave. they both will not leave any residue if you remove it later. definately worth the protection for me

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I'v had an invisible shield since day1. It was ok and I found the device usable.

It started getting gucky, so I revmoved it about a month ago.

WOW!

Whole new device. Screen is much more responsive and smooth.

I haven't damaged it or scratched it or w.e.

I would suggest NOT getting it, unless you KNOW you will scratch it. You can't truly enjoy your device with a screen protector on it.

Never used one and I've been using pocket pcs for 7 years.

You are also gonna be ticked if you don't and you get scratches on it. If you are anal, like most of us geeks with a touch screen, you will be extremeley irritated if you even get the tiniest scratch on it.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

Had an invisibleshield on my env touch from day 1. Broke the keyboard and took it in for replacement and took the shield off, touch screen was MUCH better! More responsive, easier to slide finger, etc.

I do not have any protector on my TP2 because of this. I have a reasonable amount of faith in myself and my holster keeping it good.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I don't use one and have two tiny scratches on my phone. I wish there was a way to get rid of them. I guess there isn't much point in getting one now. Although I did get a Seido case to protect the rest of my device.

No way would I go without a screen protector - even if it's not a really 'nice' one, still use one!! I have a friend with a TP2 and he neglected to put on one when he first got it and he now greatly regrets it when he looks and his and then looks at mine ..... (hahaha.... ahem...:-$ ... jk)
:laughing3:

This does raise the question about how people are scratching them?

I use this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=390129052036.

I did scratch a PPC6600...and I think it was dirt that scratched the screen as the stylus moved around the screen. <shrug>

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

So back in my treo 650 days i used a screen protector religiously... the thing that sucked is that 2 weeks after i put the screen on i had visible screatches on the protector.. and id say "wow , lucky i have that on there.."

well after i had a a replacement treo 650 given to me i said screw it and tested the my theory that screen protectors are completely unescceary. its a scam.. the screens dont get scratched but the screen protectors DO get scratched and tehn you feel the need to replace it every three months...

and i used that treo for a year and a half , no protector, in my pocket , with keys...
not a scratch on it!

then when they gave me a treo 755 free upgrade i didnt use one on that either.. 2 years of use and it didnt have a single scratch on the screen..

well when i got my TP1 i put a screen protector on it.. but 10 days later they replaced my TP1 with another tp1 and i decided to go without.. and guess what.. no scratches....

but.. now with my TP2.. it seems very similar to the TP1 in terms of the material on the screen.. so i figures no protector nessecary.. but after 3 weeks.. :-(
Hairline scratches all over the screen.. ... so im gonna put on one of those Zag style screen protectors on , the kind that you have to squeege on..
those actually do tend to hide existing scratches... but im not gonna like the texture

:-(

anyone have a good skin that doest make the screen less responsive?

yup,i use a universal one.applied perfectly and feels so smooth leave nothing behind im a bit hesitant ordering specific tp2 protectors as i had bad experience with the tp1 protectors of that sort.so radioshack like $10

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I put a ghost armor screen protector on mine and love it. can barely tell it's there. a few days after i put it on a friend of mine who is an iphone fanboy tried playing with it. he told me after that he thought the tp2 screen was the best resistive screen he had used. he just about crapped his pants when i told him there was even a screen protector on it too.

if the apple fanboy digs it, then i think i have a pretty good thing going.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I'm not risky any permanent damage to my "baby", so I religiously read the numerous postings of opinions on screen protectors and end up trying many of them out. Today I pulled off the Sprint supplied OEM verion and put on one I grabbed off of Ebay and tonight replaced it with the bestskinsever version I picked up recently. I'm currenlty awaiting some antiglare verions, so who knows what tomorrow might bring in my never ending desire for the "perfect" screen protector...all in know is that my "baby" will always have some type of screen protection.

lol...I agree. I believe the iphone's screen/external layer is glass.

Just messing.. I can't stand any scratches on my screen, so yes, I use a screen protector. I'm using the one that came with the phone.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I would definatly use one! resistive screens scratch very easy, even if you dont actually scratch it, you will get the small, fine hairline scratchs in it.
I highly recommend these-->
http://www.seidioonline.com/product-p/spm1htp2s-2.htm
Mine just came in today and I honestly cant even tell its there. Perfectly clear and smooth. I cant stand zagg, ghostarmor or bestskins ever, while they protect the best, they have a rubbery sticky feel and are not clear.
The Seidio one went on perfect, best job I ever did at putting one on!
No water needed, and it looks and feels great!

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I use an invisible shield full body shield. It costs like $25.00, and then another $10.00 for them to put it on for you (their website will list the closest location- Best Buy sells and applies them too).

http://www.zagg.com/images/products/...TOUPRO2SFB.jpg

It has a lifetime guarantee (covers the shileld itself, the installation if it ever comes off or bubbles, and against the device ever getting scratched under it) if they put it on for you.

So now I don't even use a case anymore. Just drop the Touch Pro 2 into my pocket, and it's guaranteed not to scratch.

Plus, like I said on another forum, it's like going from an old school laptop to a new one with a glossy screen. It just looks a lot nicer.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

The question is why the hell not? The included screen protectors are insanely tough and are invisible is put on correctly. I used a thread on the best way to install them as they leave no room for error.

I had one on my tp1 which was great until they replaced my screen almost 1 year later and didn't include one. Got a few nasty scratches within 3 days from the case itself.

JimP 12-19-2009 10:25 AM

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

esqueue,

Verizon doesn't include screen protectors and some have posted that their experience has been that screen protectors affected performance. Others have posted that they've gone quite a while without one and haven't suffered any scratches.

Now I don't think putting the phone in a pants pocket with keys or change in it would be smart but if it affects performance and with just a little care you don't scratch the screen, why bother.

With that said, I'll probably put mine on when I get back from breakfast. :)

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I never used one on the previous 3 versions of this phone, especially on the touch pro since i got a new one every week or so, HOWEVER those tiny little scratches that you keep running into with the stylus or your finger seems to make them bigger and more annoying after awhile! Therefore didn't even touch the new tp2 out of box until i put it on!
As far as responsiveness you can change your settings to make it more sensitive if you "think" it seems less responsive. My screen protecter came with it no fancy one and I have not noticed any problem with responsiveness.

Sorry, I wasn't aware. Ask around to see what screen protectors that others are using. I know that fellowes makes the crappiest screen protector ever that distorts your screen and scratches with a microcloth.

I am not sure which aftermarket screen protector has the quality and durability of the OEM one.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

It amazes me that Sprint stores don't carry a pack of 3 of the OEM protectors for like 10-12$ ... they would def get my purchase

I enjoy the oem one quite a bit and might gamble to see if the Seido one is similar...I applied my oem protector perfectly, but unfort it was in a dimly lit room and some dust is apparent under the screen when i look at it today...annoying.

I use the cheapies sprint sells, 12 bucks for about 10 separate protectors, although you have to cu then down to size ( 2 per sheet), replace em about every thirty days...presto screen safe and they are not a detyerrent to the phones use or beauty

I've used Invisible Shields in the past and while they do a great job of protecting the phone, they are horrible for touch screen phones.

The have an almost rubbery texture to them making it next to impossible to slide your fingers to navigate menus.

Since the Verizon version of the Touch Pro 2 doesn't come with a screen protector (I have no idea why), I went to the Sprint store and bought a pack of their universal screen protectors and cut one down to fit my screen.

If you buy a nice quality screen protector you won't even know it's there. Both in looks and performance.

I HIGHLY suggest a screen protector for resistive touch screens. It's kind of a waste on capacitive touch screens though since most of the ones I've seen are glass. I know for a fact that my iPod Touch and my Zune HD are glass.

Re: Do you use a clear screen protector???

I tried the screen protector from the box and threw it away after 10 minutes. (It reduced brightness and has bubbles, equivalent to a condom :-)
I don’t think any screen protector can beat bare touch screen. With the speed of device innovation these days, I won’t use the same phone for more than 2 years anyway.
So forget about the protector, just enjoy the sharp bright screen :-)

No offense, but it sounds like you just don't know how to install them correctly.

Unless it's a cheap screen protector, you can't even tell they're there if installed correctly.

I definitely use one. Plus most of the nicer protectors are "slicker" and make it easier to finger scroll. I use the boxwave.com "cleartouch" protectors.

It was also the easiest one i ever installed.
