new spb shell works much better with tp2

hey guys and gals...I know this is probably in the
wrong forum...but I wanted you to know that spb finally
came out with a version of spb shell that seems to
work great with the tp2. I have only used it for
about an hour but it seems to work much better.

admins..I posted here because previous versions had
problems and this version seems to work GREAT with
the tp2. try it out... v3.5.2 at their website...

Wirelessly posted (Opera/9.80 (Windows Mobile; WCE; Opera Mobi/WMD-50286; U; en) Presto/2.4.13 Version/10.00)

And the contacts button works from the dialer now. Still testing it out now but seems excellent.

The contacts button on the HTC Dialer only works now if you have WM6.5 on your TP2. I have 6.1 and the dialer issues are still not fixed after loading MS3.5.2. Also, the trade-off was that the HTC Task Manager is now gone for WM6.5 users, but MS3.5.2 has its own task manager, so that trade-off is (debate-ably) liveable.

Or you could use another Task manager like this one:

Has anyone tried this with the new Mobile Shell yet? Does it put the task manager up at the top like the HTC one?

Yes, it's very similar to the HTC one. On the home screen you will not see any special icon though. Just tap the top right corner and the task manager will appear like in the screenshot.

I prefer Easy Today Launcher to SPB MS and Manila. It's free, can put up to 40 app links on the classic Today screen, and uses virtually no resources. You guys can flip and scroll and navigate to your heart's content. I'm already in my app.

Re: new spb shell works much better with tp2

I just downloaded the trial after several frustrations with Manilla on my stock ROM (just got my TP2 a few days ago).

Mobile shell is terrific! In my opinion, it's everything that TouchFlo should have been. I'm still scratchin' my head -- why can SPB make an app that is easier to use, runs faster, uses less memory, and just plain works better than the HTC/WinMo UI's?

Put another way, why can't HTC nor MS figure it out?

Without the Mobile Shell, I might have returned my TP2 and paid the stocking fee...

Just don't add any of the themes that are out there (mskip's,HTC Pure Style etc) with the 3.5.2 version. After installing themes it turns call log font black and unreadable. I reverted back to 3.5.1 and am using a theme by mskip right now. Once the themes are updated I will then upgrade. Not a lot of fixes in this new version though.

i've had always used SPB, from TOUCH, TOUCH PRO, and now TOUCH PRO 2... Honestly, the more i got familiar with spb the more i found Manila annoying to use but that is my personal opinion. I find Spb to be more simplified.

How's the speed? the only reason I'm not using it is that I have found 3.x to be sluggish...

Did they dump the widget-ized Professional layout? That's the major reason I switched back to 3.0.1...

is the battery drain issue still present? I tried it for a day and my battery died after 4 hours. went back to manila and it last 1.5 days now. go figure. Otherwise it was a great shell.

Agreed. It works flawlessly for me and with SPB Plus Ultimate it beats Manila in both visual appeal and utility. It seems to consume about the same amount of RAM, if not less.

What exactly is SPB Plus Ultimate, and where can it be bought? Also, how did you get that clock?

It comes with SPB Plus Ultimate along with a lot of other goodies. It's simply an enhancement that removes the bottom SPB Mobile bar so you can put your own shit down there. I highly recommend it - all you do is install a cab file after a fresh install of SPB Mobile 3.5.1.

EDIT: A pic of SPB Mobile 3.5 without SPB Plus Ultimate:

Not sure, although I'm guessing it does simply because 3.5.2 is essentially the same as 3.5.1 besides a several small fixes. I'm sure you'll be able to find out somewhere in the XDA thread.

3.5 was buggy, but most of these issues have been resolved in 3.5.1.

3.5.1 has been running flawlessly for me. Hell, I'd say it's less buggy than Manila.

It still has that problem with 6.1 roms. But if you upgrade to a 6.5 rom.. It works.

i like that taskbar from above pics.

the new spb works great and now has ability to utilize the 800x480 screen by minimizing icons now.

The Professional layout is still there but is turned off by default. Seems to have more standard widgets in 3.5.

Im running 6.1 on my TP2 but the in call functions like the contacts messages or e-mail the contact or view previous text messages with the caller or the contact info all those tabs while in a call when i click on them they dont work is that something that the shell doesnt support or something i have done...If i can figure that out this shell would be perfect!

Just installed the latest and greatest version of
Spb Mobile Shell on my VZW Touch Pro 2, and
it is xss kicking!

Blows away Touch Flo 3D "Hands Down".

I could not read the body of my company
e-mail messages, only the header through
Touch Flo, and commonTime said that there
was nothing that they could do to solve it.

Know I truely have the functionality of reading
the complete e-mail without having to open it.

Thank you Spb for finally making a "Must" have
application for the Touch Pro 2.

All the Best!

Note: I am in no way affiliated with Spb software,
and just wanted to share my joy with all.

I just installed Spb Mobile Shell 3.5.2 yesterday and I'm loving it - wasn't that excited about 3.5, but they seem to have fine-tuned it to where it is more user and finger-friendly..... Also, you can customize it to your heart's content!!

I recommend it!

If you are switching back and forth between TF3D or Sense to Mobile Shell I highly recommend a simple switcher by Darkness231 found HERE: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...0&postcount=18
It just plain works perfect!

For those thinking about trying this out...but want something to compare it to. Goto your local sprint store and check out the hero. This, to me, is exactly what MobileShell will bring to your TP2. I really like it as well.

Great app!!!!

I'm using the MS 3.51 right now its a bit sluggish, when swiching apps does anyone know if the new update is running smoother?
Besides the lil lag it works fine with nice layout customizing

+1 for the new 3.5.2 on the touch pro 2. I actually went back to the stock rom but I miss all the tweaks from the custom roms. I wish we could have a chef do a highly tweaked 6.1 with all the useful programs already built in just for mobile shell users. Mobile shell adds much more functionality to windows mobile period.

Indagroove's 6.5 ROM (haven't tried his latest 6.5.x ROM) is way better than the Stock 6.1 Sprint ROM. No comparison.
