Hi guys, i really need help/advice. ok so i have a sprint and i just got my 5th replacement through advance exchange today... my 3rd replacement this month... each fone i get freezes at times and i have to remove the battery. this happens 3-4x a day... i was on the fone with sprint all day yesterday and they kept saying they wont do anything about it because im past my 3rd replacement.after several more calls, someone finally sent me another replacement. a supervisor said i called 28x yesterday and i guess they still dont understand i am having serious issues here... does anyone know someone i can contact at sprint to have this resolved? i just want a fone that works, preferebly a different model. ive heard everything from there is nothing that can be done, use my upgrade, call asurion, hung up on over 5x, etc. they act like i am sending in for replacements just for the fun of it... i have read online about people that have these probs with sprint and they have done stuff like credit their account for the full price of the problematic fone or just giving them a free fone of their choic but i cant seem to get any resolution at all... ive even threatened to cancel my service but they dont budge or they hang up on me... i just want a fone that works, can someone please help me? i would really appreciate it. thanks

Wow 5 PHONES huh? Well were you running stock on each one? Did you install any cabs? Seems kinda crazy to go through 5 and the phone has been out a little more than 4 months. I don't know what you can do if EVERY SINGLE phone is doing the same thing. All I can say is GOOD LUCK with sprint...

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

I echo Mike's sentiment. Are you installing anything at all over and above what comes on the phone? This sounds like a bad program is causing your issues.

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

I am on the EnergyROM 28008 with WM6.5.3, and I think I get the same issue. It just freezes at times. No screen, no power, just a soft reset to fix. I even turned off the feature that turns the screen off after a few minutes, and noticed today it was frozen while dim. When I was on the stock rom (albeit Verizon), it was super smooth and stable. No problems. But I like my phones nice and newest technology, so I flash, and kinda deal with the bugs.

I don't know what to say to help you. I think after 5 phones, you may have to re-assess your needs in a phone, maybe this is too much for you. Most of us here know to deal with it sometimes as it comes with the territory, but occasionally, people get super picky and nit-picky (not saying you are, just making a point). Anyways, good luck and I hope things work out for you.

Am I in the right forum? (touch pro 1)... lol.

But seriously, after 3 you should be able to swap it out for another phone. I haven't seen anyone needing to swap out for that many TP2s.

What programs are you installing? You should be pretty sure at this point that it's not the phone, but it's you or the programs you are installing.

if i'm not mistaken i think energyrom uses showcase, thats probably the reason your phone freezes.

Looks like you need to get yourself an iPhone, bud! Kinda like switching to automatic from manual. :-)

I think u should hard reset and only install one program a day and weed out the culprit . could just about guarantee its sumthin your putting on it.the audio tweak that came out a couple weeks ago did it to me. started uninstalling till it went away and now no problems

Honestly, I work in Service and Repair at a local Sprint store, We have replaced over 100 TP with TP2's.
One was returned due to compatability issues with BT and door locks for houses.
We have had ONE come back for software issues and turns out to be his card.
Simply replacing his card fixed his issues. That is my suggestion for Resolution.

(FYI, Care is only allowed to send 3 devices via advanced exchange. after that you are required to go to a Service and Repair location.)

5 phones doing the same thing? it's the user, not the device.

If you have had 5 TP2's, then buy a new phone. TP2's are selling on eBay for $399. Take your earnings and upgrade.

That's a really good point. A bogus SD card could cause havoc.

My phone has done that once in the last month and I think it was on the first ROM I flashed which I think was a mighty ROM. Been running Energy ROMs for a while now and they have been doing very good. 18hr's and I'm still at 70% and used the GPS for almost an hour on battery with screen on. I'm about ready to buy a 2nd one for my wife.

I have to agree.. I do advance exchange all the time for customers and you are the first person I have heard of that has had 5 returns ( i havent even had anyone with 3) for a TP2.

After 3 AE's we send customers to a repair shop because if you are having issues with 3 seperate phones there is a good chance that it may be something you are doing.

And while I flash and use custom rom's, technically speaking once you do that you are taking a risk and if something keeps happening you might as well stay stock, because I really doubt that you could have gotten 5 bad TP2's.

I would just goto a store/repair center. If your issues are legit, try to go see the same tech everytime. That way he can be familiar with you and your phone. My local store kicks ass, but i cant say the same for yours. It very well could be something silly like a proggy you are using, or the sd card as others have mentioned. Build a relationship witht the local store and they will help ya.

Oh yeah, some advice: You catch more flies with sugar than you do salt. :)

Yeah, if you get 5 phones all with the same issue, then it's 99% likely you're doing something wrong, or else you just don't understand how to use the device. Sell it & get a flip phone, dude.

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

I am on phone number 3. The first over heated to the point of freezing and the USB port was exceedingly loose. #2 was returned within 1 week due to an exceedingly loose USB port and #3 has heated up twice. I run the stock ROM, stopped using FlexMail and it still gets hot on occasion. It really can be the phone. The first over heated and killed the battery regardless of what it was doing. The 3rd one has over heated twice while sitting on the charger. I have 2 batteries and each one has over heated. I will move on with something like the Sprint Moment if this one gets any worse.

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

I should keep quiet since yesterday I got a cpl post deleted of mine buuuutt look at his post history of the last cpl months....
cough, scammer tryin to get a free upgrade to the TP2 , cough

I wanna guess he has a TP/Mogul not a TP2....
I know the TP has issues personally but don't abuse the system....
The Tp most likely will falter, I went through three with three different problems in 7 months.....

If he had a Tp2 he could:

1)sell it and by whatever phone of his liking stay with carrier
break even on TP2 buying/selling price

2)sell it and change carriers
if there is an etf, OP will come up short but atleast he/ll get freedom of carrier and phone
His last sentence said he jus wanted ap hone that works...right

3)Just an assumption but I'm sure if he had a TP2, Sprint heck maybe even Verizon would be happy to take it off his hands and give him a different device since all of Sprint's phones are cheaper, unsure about Verizon phone prices.....

Just an educated opinion, if its wrong sorry OP unlikely, if I'm right sorry for feeding the troll

Thx for all the great suggestions everyone. im just now replying because i calld sprint like 15x right after i posted this... first off, its not a tp2 i keep having problems with. i posted here because i did a exchange on my pro for a instinct s30 (stupid choice) and these are the problems i had due to making that desicion... the s30 gave me these problems completely stock, rite out the box, the same way i got it from sprint, i havent added/customized anything... long story short, after 4 hours of nicely talking to supervisors some1 finally did something for me. they said it was obvious i am having serious problems and would get me into a diff fone. i was told that several times but no one actually did it until now... i was offered an extra $150 off any phone i want but have to use my upgrade. thats better than 'we cant do anything else for you, take it to a store, or just buy another fone'. there isnt a sprint store around for 100+ miles and they still tried to tell me i had no choice but to take it to a store... and i wasnt looking to get a free fone as some1 stated, if u went through 4 fones all with similar freezing issues and when u go to activate your 5th replacement, take it out of the box, turn it on, and notice its freezing before you can even get it activated, what would you have done?

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

So then whats your point in posting in the TP2 section? What does this have to do with a touch pro 2.

why did you post your question in the TP2 forum?
sorry Mikkeeee Jonnnessss already asked that while typing my reply....
yesterday you posted stating you were on your 3rd replacement, today your on your 5th???

i/ve heard instinct have freezing probs but how could you tell right out the box without even running it?....lol

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

some of you guys.... I dunno man. I feel this guys pain. I am on Verizon and I too had to go thru five phones... yeah... FIVE Touch Pro 2's, before they finally got me one that worked without issues. However, in my case they were different issues, and I think this was exacerbated by the fact that two of the replacements were "certified like new", which is a joke.

1st phone - New - worked great for about 3 weeks, then I notice the keyboard feels funny, keys in the lower right corner are making a crinkling sound like celophane and becoming less and less responsive. Glue strip holding the keyboard membrane down starts to wear out and the membrane lifts off the plastic. Enter key and right arrow key become almost completely unresponsive

2nd phone - New - severe stuck pixel problem

3rd phone - Certified like new - what a joke, the screen is all scratched up, phone has three stuck pixels, pictures taken with the camera have a weird blue spot that must be a defect in the sensor.... cleaning the lense does nothing

4th phone - Certified like new - first thing I notice is that the little metal 'grill' covering the earpiece is missing, but the screen is flawless, no scratches or stuck pixels, so I figure no big deal I'll live without it. Then I call 611 to activate the phone.... and come to find the earpiece speaker is completely blown. Also, the volume down key is flat... it cannot be pressed at all with the back cover on

I am so pissed that they can call these certified like new.... I mean what the hell. Anyways, after I called and spoke with a manager, they offered me the Droid or the Imagio, I said no way, so they sent me another new touch pro. I think it's been close to two months now I've had it, and other than one hard to spot stuck pixel in the corner, it is so far working flawlessly, and I am happy.

Anyways... give the guy a break... he may really just be unlucky.

No criticism, just a question. What were you expecting? I mean what did you think you were going to get?

IF this happened what would you expect someone to do? I would raise hell at a local Sprint store....not an indirect dealer but store. And they can't hang up on you at a store. No one here can do much for you. Sorry :-(

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

I had this problem with my Touch Pro. You should check your PIM. Don't me ask how or why, but somehow my PIM got screwed up and each time I transfered it from the old phone to the new one it started freezing up constantly. What I finally ended up doing to test it was not put it in for a few days and watched my phone run perfect. After that I simply put all my contacts in manually and didn't have a problem after that. While it is an odd idea, I would definitely give that a try, it took me 6 phones to figure out it wasn't the phone.

Re: 5TH SPRINT REPLACEMENT... WHAT DO I DO???

well...if you use your common sense here..if the 2nd and 3rd replacement didn't help here..then the 5th one would not help you for sure. It's kind of like banging your head against the wall. If the first one hurts..and so does the second one and the thrid...it will hurt on the fifth...sometimes it's good to be a smartass

i know there is nothing you guys can do, just sharing my experience and there is no local store here at all to take the fone to. best buy is the only place that sells sprint fones here and i know there is nothing they can do. what i expect from them is what i paid for, a fone that works.

I was positive that after my 2nd replacement, more replacements would not solve my problem. sprint are the ones that dont seem to understand this and continue to send replacements. and when i did get someone that had enough sense to understand that and say something about trying to get me a different model, they still wouldnt do anything about it.

My thing is, you are posting this in the TP2 forum and you're not even talking about a smart phone! Why would you expect anyone to really have an understanding of the specific issues you're having? I'm sure a bunch of us have had issues with TPs and TP2 and we post here for help, but you're talking about an Samsung Instinct. Why wouldn't you put the name of the device in your very first post so someone would know how to direct you.

Seems like you were bored and just wanted start a conversation.
