Re: Best Messenger app

I'm using Palringo. Until this week it was completely free. There are now some premium features that you can pay for. (not sure how much yet, it'll be a week or 2 before they have the premium account up.) I'm fine just using the free features though. It loads automatically so your always online, if you want to be. Doesn't show in the task manager unless you have chats open. Memory usage is low just make sure you turn off the gps tracking function or it will drain the battery pretty bad. Give it a try, it's worth the 2 min to download and check out.

Re: Best Messenger app

Try Nimbuzz. Not bad, syncs all your IM's plus Myspace and Facebook contacts for chat.

Re: Best Messenger app

I have been using Palringo since my TP. I use to have Beejive, and IM+ and am a registered owner of both. But I kept changing ROM so much that I got tired f registering it.

Re: Best Messenger app

+1 to palringo.

Seems like one of the only IM apps with facebook chat. FB times out pretty often (their servers are probably picky if you aren't chatting) but it's a huge plus because I don't even have any friends who use AIM or MSN anymore.

I personally use Slick, it has ICQ, Yahoo, AIM, MSN, Google Talk, Jabber

Re: Best Messenger app

I've used slick, it works fine but the ui is ugly and no visual alerts on your screen when minimized. Which reminds me, with palringo, if you have a new chat message, it puts the envelope up on your taskbar and adds it to the notifications window. Using palringo is really like having an embedded IM service.

Slick does not do notifications (maybe there is a setting for it didn't check) but it does put itself in the task bar when you have a new message.

As for UI..I admit it is not the "prettiest" but it works and its clean...first thing I do is change the color of it from purple to something else lol

But it is free..at least for now.
