Re: Signal Strength Woes??
I too thought I was having signal strength problems when I flashed to anything after 11/16 MM's rom but I soon discovered that there was some problem with the provisioning program cooked within MM's rom. I don't know what the difference is between the version of provisioning I have and what is cooked within the rom, but now I use an earlier version of a Sprint provisioning cab that I have and my signal strength indicator is back to what its always been (4-5 bars). If you have an older provisioning cab, try it out instead of the version thats cooked into the rom. Hope this helps someone.

Re: Signal Strength Woes??
I can tell u this. we bought one for the control room at work which is explosion proof and built out of every possible material that can effect cell signals plus lots of radio interference from control systems. we bought a cellphone-mate signal booster with 55 db gain and covers 2500 sq ft and went from 1-2 bars outside to 5 bars inside. worked great for $350. just ordered one for the house. signal was never a problem when traveling just when sitting at home and at work. solved all our problems. plus its dual band so it boosted me on sprint and my iphone flunkies as well

Re: Signal Strength Woes??
Granted I just skimmed this, but I recall something about stock signal meters having 7 bars and custom ROMS only having 5. So it may look like youve dropped signal, but in reality you didn't. Could this be possible. Sounds silly, but you never know

Re: Signal Strength Woes??
not in my case. I always install signal 7 cab. so i have 7 bars. its just when not in a call its 1 to 2.. in a call its 7 on customs. on stock always 7....its definitely a bug.

Re: Signal Strength Woes??
Thanks for all the posts & info.
Here's where I am now: I unlocked my SIM (donation) & flashed the 1.40WF Sprint Radio. I noticed slightly better SS (from 0-1 bars to 1-2 bars). I then flashed back to EnergyROM 28008, and the SS was the same (1-2 bars). Then...under Phone Settings, CDMA Services, Network Service (not sure if this route is different under different ROMS), there is an option ("Home only" v. "Standard"). I changed it to Standard. Now, when I place a call, my bars max out during the call. I'm not sure if this is really accurate, but the VQ seems to be better now. Weird... EDIT: I think the home only v. standard is just roaming settings. Not sure. Okay, looks like I'm going to start a ticket with Sprint to complain, maybe they'll put up a tower a little closer? lol... Re: Signal Strength Woes??
kaos, airaves are great if you have a broadband connection ti hook it to. I don't have this option at home or at work. I had already checked on airaves and got the free offer as well. glad it worked for you tho

Re: Signal Strength Woes??
ya the airave works lovely. But i also have fios hooked to it i see your point.
as for the other thing of standard to home. mine has been on standard since day 1. Its funny hen i ran tsowenr taskbar i always thought i had no signal idle. Now that i changed it to bilbos i can actually see at home custom i get 1 to 3. stock 7. in a call 7 on custom. its weird. I just have a feeling as i have said before in other post when i found it. That damn pass worded provisioning zip has to have something in it special. At least on sprints end. |
