I agree, I held off buying a SB a while back as I wasn't sure it was worth it.

Boy, was I wrong. Adding Sling was one of the best things I ever did to my system. I get all my local cable TV channels (includiing HBO/Cinemax/Showtime on demand etc etc etc etc), it is awesome.

I have my video out hooked to the 7" DVD/NAV screen in my truck & as I drove my son back to college recently we had a NFL Packers game on the whole way........

I can stop that at anytime & switch to a BlueRay DVD player etc etc

Another way I use Sling recently.

I was in a hotel in Atlanta, they had cable but I wanted to watch my local news.

No problem, fire up the Sling on my phone, plug the video out into the hotel room TV & get all the same channels I would get home in my family room.

Slingbox works wonders when you're travelling and want to watch your the cable network channels you get at home. you have to buy the unit to connect to your box and then download the software to your laptop/mobile phone. you just plug your laptop/phone (if it has tv out) to the tv and watch the channels you get in your home from any tv in the world.

Did you just buy the official HTC video out cables? And how is the video quality?

Make sure you get the right kind. They have many different variants (e.g. one specially for HDTV etc.).

i don't have an hdtv...yet, i was looking at the solo but am watching some ebay auctions on the pro..the 300 model. what should i look for?

What kind of cable do you have?
Do you use a cable box or do you plug the coaxial cable straight to your tv?

The pro is probably good for you. Depending on which one you get (they have newer/older models out there) you can control your tivo/dvr too. I forget which one does HD and which one doesn't. If you don't have HD you can probably get the one that doesn't do HD for less.
