Sounds like something in your pocket is hitting the comm manager button, then hitting airplane mode.

no, mine was doing this too... if you hold in the red phone button it turns off the radio...
hold it in for like 5 seconds... maybe you are pressing that somehow...

Yeah the 6700 did the same thing.

Of note, I tried to do it on the WM5 Alltel ROM and it doesn't do it... which is more the reason for me to keep the phone, since that royally sucked on the 6700... missing 10 or 15 calls and wondering why nobody is calling you... then looking at it and going "oh shit"

so this problem was happening to me too so i followed the directions below but when i still hold the end call red button it still turns off my phone. do i need to do something else to disable this function?

HOW TO: Permanently Disable Flight Mode

You must have a registry editor installed on the PPC. I used PHM RegEdit
Go to the registry and change the following key:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER -> ControlPanel -> PhoneExtendFunction -> CDMA

Change FlightModeSwitchByPnHEndKey to 0

This will prevent the phone from going into Flight Mode if you accidentally press the End Call button for too long.

Note that Flight Mode can still be used by tapping the signal strength meter. (I wish I could disable that too)
